The softball chips made history at Chapelle as they became the 2024 Division 1 Select State Champions! The chipmunks worked hard all season and continued to get the wins with the help of their coaching staff and their strength and conditioning coach, Haley Maher. The team’s bond was unmatched and they continued to push each other to eventually get the gold. Through the process, their pitchers Kayla Giardina and Delaney Trosclair continued to dominate in the circle with an amazing defense behind them. The chips won against Mount Caramel to get the ticket to Sulfur. The team and coaches were prepared to go all the way and win state. After the win, Coach Scott O’ Brien had a lot to say. He talked about the whole process and how they had their ups and downs. Like all other teams, they had some rough patches, but they all banded together and fought through the adversity.

When the chips returned home, they were congratulated by some of the student body and others. Everyone was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to celebrate their win. Later in May, the team put their sign up at the field and over 100 supporters attended. The team felt as if they were on top of the world. After everything, the team received their rings and are proud to be known as the first Chapelle softball team to ever win a state championship. As Coach Scott O’Brien said, “Our team chemistry got us through the tough moments in the game.” As you can see, the team’s chemistry is what really pushed them over the top.
