Freshman Ava Braendel Breaks Chapelle Swimming Record! 💚🏊‍♀️ The Chapelle community is celebrating an incredible achievement in the pool! 9th grader Ava Braendel has officially set a new school record in the 50 Free with an outstanding time of 24.85 seconds. Ava’s performance breaks the previous record of 24.89, held by Pandora Domalis since 2003 — a record that stood strong for over two decades! Her hard work, dedication, and determination continue to shine, and we could not be more proud of her accomplishment.  Congratulations, Ava, on making Chapelle history! We can’t wait to see what you achieve next.

Chapelle Junior Lyla Pelle Crowned Miss Dance of Louisiana 2026! The Chapelle community is proud to celebrate Junior Lyla Pelle, who has been officially crowned Miss Dance of Louisiana 2026 — an extraordinary accomplishment showcasing her talent, discipline, and passion for dance. To earn this prestigious title, Lyla competed in a series of challenging components, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Acro classes, as well as Interview and solo performance scores. Her excellence across all areas earned her the top honor and the opportunity of a lifetime. This summer, Lyla will represent the Louisiana Association of Dance Masters (LADM) at Dance Masters of America, where she will compete nationally for the title of Miss Dance of America 2026 in Connecticut. Lyla’s achievement is even more special as she follows in her mother’s footsteps — her mom, a Chapelle alumna from the Class of 1992, was also crowned Miss Dance of Louisiana 1992. A beautiful legacy of grace and dedication continues! At Chapelle, Lyla shines not only in the studio but also on campus as a dedicated member and Treasurer of the Chapellettes Dance Team. The Word Shares the Excitement for Incarnate Word Hall Ahead of #iGiveCatholic Day 💚✨ In the spirit of community, generosity, and Chapelle pride, members of The Word, Archbishop Chapelle High School’s official student newspaper, set out this week to capture the voices behind the excitement for Incarnate Word Hall—our future Chapel and Theology wing. Students interviewed alumnae, teachers, and fellow Chipmunks to ask one simple question: “How excited are you for Incarnate Word Hall?” The responses were overflowing with enthusiasm. From alumnae eager to see a new sacred space on campus, to teachers thrilled for the spiritual and educational opportunities the building will bring, to students imagining the impact on future generations—everyone shared a deep sense of pride and anticipation. Their interviews weren’t just about gathering reactions. The Word created this feature to help spread awareness and inspire support for #iGiveCatholic, a day dedicated to uplifting Catholic communities through generosity. By highlighting the shared excitement for Incarnate Word Hall, they helped show just how meaningful this project is to the entire Chapelle family. Celebrating Excellence: Mrs. Christina Taix ’96 Receives the WWL Channel 4 Excel Award, Presented by Credit Human 💚🍎 Archbishop Chapelle High School is thrilled to celebrate a truly special moment in our community! WWL Channel 4, in partnership with Credit Human, surprised our beloved teacher and alumna Mrs. Christina Taix ’96 with the prestigious Excel Award—an honor reserved for educators who go above and beyond to shape the future of our young people. WWL and Credit Human recognize exceptional teachers across the region for their dedication, passion, and commitment to making a difference. That remarkable honor was bestowed upon one of our very own. A Well-Deserved Recognition Mrs. Taix, who teaches with unmatched heart and enthusiasm, was presented with the award during a surprise visit from the WWL crew. Surrounded by students and colleagues, she stood proudly as she received a $2,000 award from Credit Human—an acknowledgment of the incredible impact she makes on Chapelle Chipmunks every single day. From her creative teaching methods to the genuine care she pours into each student, Mrs. Taix embodies the mission of Chapelle. She inspires her students to think deeply, work hard, and believe in themselves. Her classroom is more than a place of learning—it’s a place where young women grow in confidence, character, and curiosity. Chapelle Shares Gratitude Through 2025 Thanksgiving Baskets 🦃🧺 The spirit of giving was alive and overflowing at Archbishop Chapelle High School this Thanksgiving season! As part of our annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive, students, faculty, and staff worked together to create beautiful baskets filled with food and essentials for families in need. This year, the baskets were donated to the St. Mary Magdalen Food Pantry as well as six other families in our Chapelle community. Each Burrow, along with members of the faculty and staff, completed a full basket — totaling over 40 baskets donated! In addition, the Chapelle family collected more than 600 items as part of the drive. This service effort beautifully reflects the mission of our Matthew 25 Service Program, which reminds us of Christ’s words: “...we see you hungry and feed you.” We are so proud of our Chipmunks for living out their faith through compassion, generosity, and action. Because of your kindness, many families will experience comfort, hope, and joy this Thanksgiving season.

12th Grade Grandparents Day: A Cherished Chapelle Tradition The Class of 2025 celebrated a beautiful 12th Grade Grandparents Day filled with faith, family, and gratitude. The day began with a heartfelt Mass honoring the special role grandparents play in our lives and in shaping our faith. Following the celebration, seniors and their grandparents enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the Parents Club — complete with laughter, stories, and plenty of hugs. This celebration was especially meaningful as it marked the seniors’ final Grandparents Day as Chapelle Chipmunks. It was a wonderful reminder of the love, support, and traditions that make our community so strong. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing community of grandparents who nurture and inspire our students with faith, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Alumna Spotlight: Aimee Webre ’96 Named Teacher of the Year! We’re thrilled to celebrate Aimee Webre ’96, who has been named Teacher of the Year for Ellender High School! Aimee’s dedication to her students, creativity in the classroom, and passion for education make her a shining example of what it means to live out Chapelle’s values of Faith, Tradition, and Excellence every day. Reflecting on this well-deserved honor, Aimee shared, “I am extremely grateful to be surrounded by great administrators and teachers!” Her humility and commitment to teamwork remind us that inspiring educators don’t just teach — they lead with heart and lift others along the way.
