From physical newspapers to digital blogs, The Word has undergone many changes over the years.

I got the chance to talk to Patricia Edie, class of ’67, an original member of The Word. Back when she was in The Word, it was a student-made booklet filled with poems and short stories. It also wasn't a club! The Word started within her English class, and only after the class ended did they expand the group so that anyone could be a member.

After The Word became open to more people, it eventually evolved into a student-run newspaper, which was printed and given out monthly. It kept chipmunks up to date on school events and news. Until recently, The Word has continued to update and inform chipmunks on the Chapelle news website.

However, The Word has moved right here to the Archbishop Chapelle website. Here, we have greater creative freedom and some amazing new content. Check out our videos, recent articles, and podcasts. The Word has told many stories over the years, and we are ready to share its latest chapter!

Recapping a Great Summer

This summer, Molly hit the court in a big way—literally! While playing travel basketball, she participated in a 3-point shooting competition during one of her tournaments. The contest brought together about 15 talented high school players from across Louisiana and Mississippi, each ready to show off their shooting skills. When the final buzzer sounded, Molly had made the most 3-pointers out of the entire group, securing her spot as the champion! Her sharp shooting earned her not just bragging rights, but also a championship ring and a $400 prize. We are so proud of Molly for this exciting achievement! We cannot wait to see her in the Burrow this year representing Archbishop Chapelle High School on the basketball court!

We are thrilled to share exciting news about one of our own, Kyla Wilson '29, whose dedication, skill, and perseverance have earned her a spot on the international stage! This past June, at the USA Gymnastics Nationals, Kyla was selected to represent the United States at the South Tyneside International Acro Cup in Great Britain this October. This prestigious competition will bring together top athletes from around the world, and Kyla will proudly compete as part of Team USA. Kyla’s journey to this moment has been years in the making. Countless hours of training, discipline, and determination have shaped her into the exceptional gymnast she is today. Her selection is not only a testament to her incredible talent but also to her resilience and love for the sport. We are so proud of Kyla and cannot wait to cheer her on as she takes the floor in Great Britain.
