With the fall testing season and exams coming up, many of us are really stressed! Even more so, our seniors are starting to have to think about what college they want to attend. I've done some questioning, and these are the top 5 universities our chipmunks are planning to attend.

   1. LSU

Most Chapelle students graduate to go on to Louisiana State University, or LSU. It is a public university in Baton Rouge nationally known and respected for its many unique, engaging, and challenging courses you can choose from, as well as its athletics.

   2. ULL

The second most popular university our Chips go to is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. It is a public research university and has the second-largest enrollment rate in the state (behind LSU). ULL is known for its exceptional STEM courses. The Princeton Review put it in its Top Universities of 2024 article!

   3. Southeastern

Southeastern Louisiana University is a public university located in Hammond, Louisiana. One of its main features is its music program, but it offers many other courses. It is ranked #41 in Top Public Schools.

A fun story about Southeastern is how my great-grandmother and great-grandfather met there. He was in a fraternity, and she was in a sorority. One of his fraternity brothers asked her to date him to cheer him up. They were married for 65 years!

   4. UNO

UNO is one of the best colleges in the New Orleans area. It is the only urban research center in Louisiana; they even have a program that provides funding for students to work on research projects. It is ranked as one of the Top 20 Schools where students have the least amount of debt after graduating.

   5. Loyola

The final of the top 5 schools Chapelle students go to is Loyola. It is a private school in Uptown New Orleans. Loyola offers 60 different undergraduate degrees and has very active and student-involved extracurriculars.

Recapping a Great Summer

This summer, Molly hit the court in a big way—literally! While playing travel basketball, she participated in a 3-point shooting competition during one of her tournaments. The contest brought together about 15 talented high school players from across Louisiana and Mississippi, each ready to show off their shooting skills. When the final buzzer sounded, Molly had made the most 3-pointers out of the entire group, securing her spot as the champion! Her sharp shooting earned her not just bragging rights, but also a championship ring and a $400 prize. We are so proud of Molly for this exciting achievement! We cannot wait to see her in the Burrow this year representing Archbishop Chapelle High School on the basketball court!

We are thrilled to share exciting news about one of our own, Kyla Wilson '29, whose dedication, skill, and perseverance have earned her a spot on the international stage! This past June, at the USA Gymnastics Nationals, Kyla was selected to represent the United States at the South Tyneside International Acro Cup in Great Britain this October. This prestigious competition will bring together top athletes from around the world, and Kyla will proudly compete as part of Team USA. Kyla’s journey to this moment has been years in the making. Countless hours of training, discipline, and determination have shaped her into the exceptional gymnast she is today. Her selection is not only a testament to her incredible talent but also to her resilience and love for the sport. We are so proud of Kyla and cannot wait to cheer her on as she takes the floor in Great Britain.
