Parents Club Meeting: Throwback Night Celebrating Chapelle Through the Years


Join us for our upcoming Parents Club Meeting on Tuesday, September 15, from 6:30 PM–7:30 PM in the Cafeteria.

This month’s theme is “Parents Club Throwback – Celebrating Chapelle Through the Years.” Parents are invited to represent their graduating class by dressing in the style of their graduation year. Whether it’s bold colors, classic trends, or a favorite decade-inspired look, we can’t wait to see everyone celebrate Chapelle spirit through the years!

We will also be collecting gift cards valued at $20. For every $20 gift card donated, you will receive one chance to win a pair of tickets to this year’s Emerald Gala. The drawing will take place during the Parents Club Meeting on February 2, 2026.

Katie Ibarra is first a daughter of God the Father, then a wife, mother of six children—three on earth and three in heaven—and a Catholic speaker with a passion for helping others encounter Christ in the midst of the ordinary, often messy, realities of life. She believes some of God's most beautiful work happens through authentic relationships, faithful presence, and the quiet invitation to prayer.


Katie spent four years serving as a FOCUS missionary on college campuses before earning a Master's in Theology from Notre Dame Seminary. She later served for several years as a Catholic educator in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, helping students discover both the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith. It is during her time as an educator that she realized the importance and power of formation in prayer. Katie then received her certification to become a trained lay spiritual director from the Institute of MInistry Formation under the direction of Fr. Boniface Hicks. 


Today, Katie serves part-time at Christ the King Catholic Center at LSU, where she offers formation in prayer and provides one-on-one spiritual accompaniment to college students. As a trained lay spiritual director, she delights in accompanying others as they learn to recognize God's voice and grow in deeper friendship with Him.


Whether speaking at retreats and parish events, meeting one-on-one with young adults, homeschooling her children, or serving in her parish community, Katie's desire is the same: to help others discover that God is faithfully present and inviting them into a life of deeper trust, joy, and intimacy with Him.

- Bachelor's Degree in History, with a minor in English from LSU


- Masters in Theology from Notre Dame Seminary


- Certification in Spiritual Direction from the Institute of Ministry Formation at St. Vincent's Seminary

Alumna Spotlight: Christie Clements Taliancich '97 Serves Families Through Her In-Home Daycare

Alumna Spotlight: Christie Clements Taliancich ’97 Archbishop Chapelle High School is proud to spotlight Christie Clements Taliancich, Class of 1997, and celebrate the meaningful work she is doing through Small World Daycare of Destrehan. Christie began her journey in childcare in 2008 after stepping away from a corporate career. Through prayer and a desire to be more available for her family, she made the decision to begin offering in-home childcare. What started as a small program in her living room quickly became a calling that allowed her to rediscover a passion she had long carried. Her work with babies and young children opened her eyes even more to the importance of early childhood care, a field she believes is incredibly meaningful and often overlooked. Over the years, Christie’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to families have helped her small beginning grow into a fully licensed facility now serving more than 90 families in St. Charles Parish and surrounding areas. Today, Small World Daycare of Destrehan provides care for children from 12 weeks old through Pre-K4 education. Christie spends her days caring for, encouraging, and helping shape young future leaders during some of the most important years of their development. Throughout her journey, Christie has remained grounded in faith. She shared that Deus Providebit — God Will Provide has been the backbone through every challenge along the way. She is grateful to Chapelle for helping instill the strong faith that has allowed her to serve others in such a fulfilling and meaningful way. Christie’s story is a beautiful example of following a calling, trusting God’s plan, and using one’s gifts to make a difference in the lives of others. As she shared, “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life!” Congratulations, Christie! Chapelle is proud to celebrate your success and the heart you pour into your work each day.

Pro-Life Youth Leadership Summit

Chips for Life Members Attend Pro-Life Youth Leadership Summit Members of Archbishop Chapelle High School’s Chips for Life Club recently attended the Pro-Life Youth Leadership Summit sponsored by Louisiana Right to Life. The summit, held at the Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge, welcomed students from schools across the area for a day focused on education, leadership, and advocacy. The event provided students with the opportunity to learn more about what it means to be pro-life, including education on the reality of abortion, Louisiana laws regarding life issues, and ways to thoughtfully respond to common questions and objections about the pro-life movement. Students also explored how they can use their voices to speak up for life in their schools, communities, and beyond. Throughout the summit, students heard from a variety of speakers and witnesses, including women impacted by abortion, Louisiana Surgeon General Dr. Evelyn Griffin, OB-GYN, Secretary of State Nancy Landry, and other leaders. Their testimonies and presentations offered students both information and personal perspectives on the importance of protecting life. For Chapelle’s Chips for Life members, the summit served as both an educational experience and a leadership opportunity. Students shared that they were especially impacted by what they learned and felt better prepared to understand and discuss pro-life topics with compassion and confidence.  As Chapelle prepares for Pro-Life Month in October, this summit helped equip students with knowledge, perspective, and encouragement to continue living out their commitment to respecting and defending the dignity of every human life. We are proud of our Chips for Life members for representing Chapelle and for their willingness to grow as informed and compassionate leaders.

Senior Retreat at Camp Abbey

Class of 2027 Senior Retreat at Camp Abbey Archbishop Chapelle High School’s Class of 2027 spent time away at Camp Abbey Retreat Center for their Senior Retreat. The retreat was centered around Psalm 34:8: “O taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Throughout the retreat, seniors reflected on what it means to truly experience God’s goodness in every season of life, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Students heard talks from Chapelle faculty members as well as guest speaker Jason Angelette, each encouraging them to recognize God’s presence, trust in His promises, and take refuge in Him. The retreat offered many opportunities for prayer and spiritual growth, including silent prayer and reflection, Adoration, Confession, praise and worship, and Mass. These moments gave students the chance to pause, reflect, and deepen their relationship with God as they begin their final year at Chapelle. In addition to the spiritual components of the retreat, the Class of 2027 also enjoyed time together through fun and fellowship. Students participated in a scavenger hunt, spent free time playing outdoor games such as basketball, gaga ball, kickball, and spikeball, explored hiking trails, and gathered around a campfire to make s’mores. The Senior Retreat was a meaningful opportunity for the Class of 2027 to grow in faith, strengthen their bonds as classmates, and reflect on the goodness of God as they continue their senior year. We are grateful for this special time together and look forward to all that is ahead for our seniors.

Six Chipmunks Attend Louisiana Girls State

Chapelle Students Attend Louisiana Girls State Several Archbishop Chapelle High School students had the opportunity to attend Louisiana Girls State, a leadership and government program that brings together young women from across the state to learn more about civic responsibility, leadership, public service, and the political process. This year, Chapelle was represented by Ja’Layah Small, Marcella Casanova, Dylan McLeod, Rosie Cardella, Olivia Larson, and Rylie Panepinto. Throughout the program, students were placed into parishes, cities, political parties, and government roles, giving them hands-on experience in how local and state government functions. Participants campaigned for positions, took part in elections, created bills, served on committees, and collaborated with other student leaders from across Louisiana. For many of the students, the experience was both eye-opening and transformative. Rylie Panepinto ’27 shared that she was placed in Atchafalaya Parish and Caddo City, where she was elected City Public Relations Officer. She was also part of the Federalist Party and served in the House on the Education Committee. Alongside her committee members, Rylie helped present a bill focused on special education in schools.

Victoria McCann Named Best High School VB Player in Louisiana

Victoria McCann Named Best High School Volleyball Player in Louisiana by MaxPreps Archbishop Chapelle High School is proud to celebrate senior Victoria McCann ’27 on being named the Best High School Volleyball Player in the State of Louisiana by MaxPreps heading into the 2026 season. In its national feature, “High school volleyball: Best player in all 50 states heading into the 2026 season,” MaxPreps highlighted top volleyball players from across the country, recognizing one standout athlete from each state. Victoria was selected as Louisiana’s top player, an incredible honor that reflects her talent, dedication, and impact on the court. MaxPreps recognized Victoria, a 6-foot outside hitter, noting that she “heads into 2026 having surpassed the 1,000-kill mark for her career.” This milestone places her among an elite group of high school volleyball players and speaks to her consistency, work ethic, and leadership throughout her Chapelle career. For Victoria and the Archbishop Chapelle High School volleyball program, this recognition is a tremendous achievement. Being chosen as the top player in Louisiana by a national high school sports outlet is a testament not only to Victoria’s individual success, but also to the strength of Chapelle Athletics and the competitive spirit of our student-athletes. Victoria has been a powerful presence for the Chipmunks, leading by example through her athletic ability and commitment to her teammates. As she enters her senior season, she continues to represent Chapelle with excellence both on and off the court. Archbishop Chapelle High School congratulates Victoria on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to cheering her on throughout the 2026 volleyball season. Alumnae Career Engagement—Speech-Language Pathology

Career Engagement Spotlight: Taylor Tom ’16 Archbishop Chapelle High School was excited to welcome Taylor Tom ’16 back to campus as part of our Career Engagement Series. Taylor visited with students to share more about her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist and the meaningful work she does helping others communicate. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, Taylor works with children who may need support with communication, whether they are learning to communicate for the first time or working on developing clearer speech. Her work helps children build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and connect more fully with the people around them. Taylor also shared that speech-language pathologists can work with adults who experience communication challenges due to medical concerns such as strokes or neurological diseases. This field allows professionals to support people of many ages and needs, making a lasting impact on their quality of life. Currently, Taylor works with children ages 0-3 in their homes and daycares. Through early intervention, she helps young children develop important communication skills during a critical time in their growth and development. We are grateful to Taylor for returning to Chapelle to share her career journey, her expertise, and her passion for helping others find their voice. Her visit gave students a meaningful look into the field of speech-language pathology and the many ways this career can make a difference in the lives of others.  Thank you, Taylor, for inspiring our students and representing the Chapelle sisterhood so well!

Matthew 25 and ChampionChip Lunch

Chapelle Celebrates Academic Excellence and Service at ChampionChip Lunch Archbishop Chapelle High School recently celebrated students who continue to live out the school’s mission through excellence in the classroom, dedication to service, and a commitment to using their gifts for others during the annual ChampionChip Lunch. This special celebration recognized students for their accomplishments in academics, service, or both. Whether earning an Outstanding Student Award, achieving Honor Roll or Distinguished Honor Roll for all four quarters, or dedicating their time and talents through the Matthew 25 Program, each honoree represented what it means to be a Chapelle Chipmunk: faithful, hardworking, compassionate, and committed to making a difference. The Matthew 25 Service Awards celebrate students who have selflessly dedicated their time and talents to helping others in meaningful ways. Inspired by the Gospel message of Matthew 25, these awards remind students that Christ is present in those we serve and that even simple acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion can have a lasting impact. Each recognition level reflects an extraordinary commitment to serving the community and answering the call to love others through action. At the ChampionChip Lunch, students were honored not only for what they achieved, but also for the spirit in which they achieved it. Academic honorees were recognized for their discipline, curiosity, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence across a wide range of subjects, while Matthew 25 honorees were celebrated for choosing to serve beyond themselves. Some students were recognized for academic achievement, some for service, and many for both. Congratulations to all of our ChampionChip Lunch honorees. We are so proud of your accomplishments, your servant hearts, and the example you set for our school community. May you continue to lead with faith, serve with love, and pursue excellence in all that you do.

All Aboard the Kindness Cruise!

Chapelle Celebrates Kindness Week with a Kindness Cruise Archbishop Chapelle High School hopped aboard the Kindness Cruise for its annual celebration of spreading love and positivity across campus. Throughout the week, students participated in intentional acts of kindness, while the Counseling Department helped guide the journey by stamping students’ Kindness Passports at each “port.” The week encouraged students to see how one simple act of love can create a wave of goodness. Each day featured a new destination and challenge designed to help students practice kindness in thoughtful and meaningful ways. On Tuesday, students arrived at Port 1: Kindness Cove , where they were challenged to complete one small, intentional act of kindness for someone they did not know well. Students were encouraged to say hello to someone they usually pass by, include someone in a conversation, make room for someone to sit with them, or offer a genuine compliment. On Wednesday, the Kindness Cruise continued to Port 2: Ripple Reef . This stop reminded students that someone’s kindness does not have to stop with them. Students were challenged to notice a kind moment and then create another one, helping the ripple of kindness continue throughout the Chapelle community. On Thursday, students visited Port 3: Encouragement Island , where the focus was on using words to lift others up and brighten someone’s day. Students were encouraged to thank a teacher, celebrate someone else’s small win, send a kind message, or simply take the time to truly listen to someone. The week concluded on Friday at Port 4: Aloha Harbor with Chapelle’s Kindness Fest. In true Chapelle fashion, students celebrated the end of the week with a fun festival right here on campus. Kindness Fest included face painting, a blow-up slide, sno-balls, a 360 camera, and so much more. A special thank you goes to our Counseling Department for all they did to make Kindness Week such a successful and fun experience for everyone. Their creativity, planning, and dedication helped bring the Kindness Cruise to life and made the week meaningful for our entire school community. Kindness Week was a joyful reminder for students to keep noticing, keep including, keep encouraging, and keep making waves. Archbishop Chapelle is proud of the way our Chipmunks embraced the journey and helped create a wave of goodness across campus.
