Studying is the key to mastering hard skills and passing your classes. We use studying for multiple subjects such as Arithmetic, English, History, etc. Have you ever wondered what can improve your studying game? Yep, you guessed it…snacks! Many different snacks include a variety of ways to help you improve your academic performances. Who wouldn’t want to be munching on a snack, while also studying for their test or quiz? Our snacks include a variety of nutritious, healthy, and delicious surprises. When picking these snacks, we made sure to do our research and acquire accurate information about these delicious study snacks. We went through and made combinations of multiple food groups that each provide something different and special for the mind. We have come to the conclusion that snacking on something while also trying to study is the best way to improve your academic performance!

We chose delicious snacks that have a variety of tastes. One taste that always appeals to the taste buds is sweet and savory! The first snack that we recommend is a delicious and toasty cinnamon toast! It is proven by many studies that cinnamon improves your cognitive functions (memory and learning). The toast makes sure that you are consuming whole grains, which provide fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. Another snack that is beneficial for studying is fruit! A specific fruit that is recommended is blueberries, which contain flavonoids. Flavonoids improve your memory, cognitive functions, and your reasoning skills. Not only are blueberries a great snack for your studies, but citrus fruits of any kind are also good for your brain! For example, lemons, oranges, and grapefruit all contain Vitamin C, which is essential for your brain health. Citrus fruits also help the production of neurotransmitters that send signals to your brain. Both cinnamon toast and citrus fruits are delicious and are truly a reward after a long school day. These two snacks will help you increase your studying and academic performances!

If you also need some appetizing yet filling meals for exam day, then these are the foods for you. Some home made food that fits these descriptions are a bread egg and overnight oats. These 2 foods are very different from each other but they are both very delicious breakfasts. A bread egg is bread with an egg cooked in the center. It can be perfect for the day of exams to keep yourself full the entire exam. Overnight oats is a mixture of oats and milk topped with cinnamon and berries. Put them in the fridge overnight and it creates a healthful and filling breakfast. Both of these foods help you to keep an open eye on the test and stay alert.

One drink that helps you concentrate on your studies and is also healthy would be a smoothie. The ingredients in the smoothie are mainly fruits so the smoothie will provide nutrition and are very healthy. It can help your studies because it will help you focus, remember the material you are studying, and enhance the brain to function properly. They are also packed with a lot of vitamins, proteins, and sustained energy, so they will keep your energy storage high. Just because smoothies are healthy does not mean it will be gross, it is very delicious. The best thing about smoothies is that you can make it yourself and choose your own ingredients. A snack that helps you concentrate would be a protein bar. Protein bars come in all different flavors that you can pick from. They are packed with nutrition and protein. The amino acids in them are what mainly helps your brain function. It can also protect the brain from stress, and mental sleepiness, and helps you not not forget things. One way to put protein bars into your daily diet is to eat them on the way to school, so it will help you during the long school day or keep one in your bag.

After I’m done with band practice I'm extremely tired and out of energy from all the work we do. When you get home from doing your sport do you ever feel like this? Here is a snack and a drink for you. Trial mix is one of my favorite snacks to have when I need some energy. Trail mix has many benefits such as providing energy, it contains many proteins like nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, and it also contains heart healthy fats from the nuts and seeds. Trial mix is also a good on-the-go snack for when you need to be somewhere else and study and  do homework. You are also able to make your own trial mixes by putting your own things in like putting different kinds of dried fruits or a sweet treat like m&m’s or chocolate chips. Tea is one of my favorite drinks to have when I am feeling stressed out with studying. There are many kinds of tea that help with many things. Such as reducing stress, helps put you in a state of calm and focus, enhancing memory, and to help your overall health.

STEM Takes Flight with Alumna Speaker Shelby Frazier ’20! ✈️ The STEM Club got a high-flying dose of inspiration this week, thanks to alumna Shelby Frazier ’20, who returned to Chapelle to share her passion for aviation and engineering! Shelby led a fun, interactive presentation all about airplanes and their inner workings, teaching students how lift, drag, and thrust work together to keep planes soaring through the sky. After learning the science behind flight, the students put their knowledge to the test by designing and creating their own paper airplanes — aiming to see whose plane could travel the farthest! The results were filled with creativity, friendly competition, and lots of laughter. We’re so proud of Shelby for continuing to represent Chapelle’s values of Faith, Tradition, and Excellence in her field, and for inspiring our students to reach new heights — literally!

Our first annual Foreign Language Festival was a hit! Members of our National French Honor Society contributed by bringing French food, such as macarons, crêpes, and croissants, which were enjoyed by all. One student, Lauren de la Gardelle, created a French festival banner that hung over our presentation of the treats. Some of the activities we had included dressing up and taking fun pictures with friends, enjoying delicious treats, wearing funny mustaches, and playing a game called The Stolen Jewels from the Louvre. The person who found the crown won a delicious Bourdin cheese. Members of our National Spanish Honor Society contributed by bringing Spanish food, such as chips & queso and guacamole, which our students could not get enough of. The activity that they shared with the student body was Zumba. So many students enjoyed getting some exercise while doing some Spanish dance moves and listening to Spanish music. We loved our time with @gina.zumba.nola. Members of our National Junior Classical League contributed by bringing an ancient Greek and Roman inspired photobooth! Students had an opportunity to take pictures with friends while learning more about Greek and Roman culture. Members also brought Spanish food and French food to collaborate with our modern languages. All three organizations, as well as Chips Around Japan, displayed their club boards to share their cultures and inspire the student body. Overall, our goal for the first Foreign Language Festival was simply to spread the beauty of different cultures to the entire student body, and we definitely achieved that!
