The 2023 Chapelle Legacy Mass was a beautiful, well attended event. Our new Chapelle Chaplain, Fr. Edward Kofi Owusu-Ansah, St. Philip Neri’s Parochial Vicar, celebrated Mass, along with the Chapelle student body, faculty, staff and more than three hundred alumnae.
These ladies returned to campus as mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts and New Orleans Honorary Aunts by Choice, proudly wearing their senior sweaters. Alumnae were joined by their Chapelle Legacy Students on the gymnasium floor where they reconnected with former classmates and introduced their Legacies to dear friends. Legacy Grandmothers were honored by wearing a special white ribbon commemorating the event.
Following Mass, each Legacy student was allowed to wear their Legacy Alumna’s Senior Sweater for the rest of the day. A special picture was taken in the gym of every Legacy family in attendance consisting of Grandmothers, Mothers, Daughters, and Sisters Alumnae, along with their current Chipmunk students. While current students beginning their own Legacies enjoyed treats in the courtyard, all Alumnae and their Legacy Chipmunks gathered on the field for a series of drone flight photographs.
One last note, if you are Chapelle Alumna and you would like to attend next year’s Legacy Mass but you are missing your Senior Sweater, please contact our Director of Alumnae, Shannon Impastato '96, via email at: simpastato@archbishopchapelle.org. She will direct you where you can purchase a new sweater in your class colors. It may not be an exact copy of your senior class sweater, but the feeling you get when you wear it to this event, and put it on your Legacy’s shoulders, will more than make up for any regrets over the loss of your original sweater. The feeling of pride you will have wearing your sweater while attending Cocktails in the Courtyard, November 17th, is a close second.
