Julie Mullen '27 Awarded Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Cadet Medal
Congratulations to Petty Officer 2nd Class Julie Mullen ’27, a member of the U.S. Navy Sea Cadets Andrew J. Higgins Squadron, on being awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Cadet Medal. This prestigious honor recognizes Julie’s academic excellence, dependability, strong character, adherence to military discipline, leadership skills, and her deep, patriotic understanding of the importance of cadet training.
Over the summer, Julie completed advanced training in Shipboard Maintenance aboard The Tall Ship Schooner, “The Bill of Rights” out of San Diego, California, and served as a staff cadet for the Gulf Coast Training Contingent at Camp Beauregard in Pineville, Louisiana, where she oversaw three different cadet trainings.
Last school year, Julie also graduated from the following programs:
- Pensacola National Flight Academy in Pensacola, Florida
- Advanced Surface Warfare Officers Course in Newport, Rhode Island, where she learned to navigate Arleigh Burke Destroyer Ships
- Advanced JAG Training
- Advanced Equine Leadership Training, focused on how law enforcement uses horses in their work, at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky
Julie was also featured in The Sea Cadet Seafarer Magazine’s December 2024 edition for her JAG training in Wilmore, where she was honored with the key to the City of Wilmore by both the Director of the Asbury University Barn and Mayor Harold Rainwater.
In addition, she was featured and interviewed on a podcast for the Gulf Coast Training Contingent, further highlighting her outstanding accomplishments and leadership.
