Have you ever had a sweet tooth but didn't know where to go? Well, here in Kenner, or even expanding further into Metairie, we have numerous options, including Cafe Du Monde, La Michocana, Don Cruz, Normas Sweets Bakery, La Chulas Ice Cream, and Nothing Bundt Cakes. Each of these shops sells a wide range of items to satisfy any craving. This article will clearly explore certain shops to help you figure out what will satisfy your sweet cravings. Ultimately, the numerous shops near Kenner can easily help you find the perfect snack to satisfy your sweet tooth.
All shops offer a variety of treats, including salty, sweet, spicy, savory, warm, cold, and many more. Starting with Cafe Du Monde, it doesn't have a huge range of snack options. They are most known for their beignets, which consist of a nearly donut-like base covered in white sugary powder. So if you're looking for something sweet and warm, Cafe Du Monde is the spot. They also sell a variety of beverages, including hot chocolate, hot coffee, iced coffee, and many more.
Next is La Michocana. Here in Kenner, they have two locations. This shop represents Mexican and Hispanic culture. La Michocanna is a city in Mexico. This shop offers a vast selection of snacks, with a menu that spans several pages. They tend to follow all the trends, so you can find everything here. You can find a wide range of flavors, from sweet to salty, spicy, warm, and more. Here are some snacks you can find there: paletas (popsicles), churros, magonadas, elotes (corn on a cob), fruit cups with chamoy, and helados (ice cream).
Continuing down my list, we have Don Cruz. Don Cruz first started as a small snowball stand in Kenner, but they recently opened a new location, now a larger store. At Don Cruz, they also offer similar sweets, such as La Michocana, so in a way, that is their competition. They sell snowballs, soft-serve ice cream, banana splits, elotes, nachos, fresas con crema (strawberries with cream), mangonadas, and many more items. Personally, if I had to choose between this store and La Michocana, I would recommend La Michocana because it offers a wider range of items than Don Cruz. However, Don Cruz is also still amazing and tasty.
Next up is Norma's Bakery. This bakery has been in operation for a long time, but a couple of years ago, it underwent an upgrade and relocated to a larger building, which has significantly helped boost its business. At Norma's, they are most known for their Central American Pastries. They sell flan, which is incredibly delicious, as well as churros, sweet empanadas, tres leches, conchas, fresh croissants, and can also create custom cakes for any occasion. So if you're ever looking for something doughy, the spot to go is Norma's Bakery. Everything comes out fresh, warm, and delicious.
Next up is La Chula. This dessert spot is also a Hispanic-based shop. Very similar to Don Cruz and La Michocana, they sell similar sweets. Such as paletas (popsicles), churros, mangonadas, fruit cups with added spice, zambo chips, chocolate-dipped strawberries, nachos, and gelato. So again, if you're looking for something spicy, sweet, or cold, this is a good place to go.
Lastly, we have Nothing Bundt Cakes. They strictly sell a variety of cake sizes and flavors. They have bundtinis, which are basically the size of a cupcake; bundtlets, which are miniature but larger than the bundtinis; and then they have bundt cakes, which are regular-sized cakes. They come in flavors such as chocolate chips, lemon, red velvet, carrot cake, and many more. This is a great place to go if you're craving something sweet!
Overall, here in Kenner, there are so many options for anyone with a sweet tooth. All the stores mentioned are amazing and delicious. I recommend trying all of them, especially if you have any sweet cravings.
