Chipmunks spent time in Amsterdam on the AP Euro Trip! While in Amsterdam, students visited The Anne Frank House, the museum that tells the story of Anne Frank and her family's hiding place during World War II.
Upcoming Senior, Katherine, shared her journey with us:
"Going to the Anne Frank house was an unreal experience. Growing up, I learned about the Holocaust and what the victims went through. I have even read her diary multiple times, along with other stories. What made her house so powerful was that it was real. I could physically see the rooms that these families lived in. I could see the steepness of the stairs, the small bedrooms that housed multiple people. I could see their bathroom and even the countertop they had once laid their hands on. It was physical. It was not just a video or book that I read, it was their home. I could feel the intensity that they had gone through. When the floor would creak, I could feel their fearfulness. It really put into perspective how they lived while they were hiding."
