Pink Month Activities

HEAD OF SCHOOL
Hello parents! As we are coming to the end of the first quarter of school, I wanted to share with you the importance of your daughter being in school every day. I encourage you to review the handbook for important details of our absentee policy.
Attending school every day in high school is essential for several reasons:
1. Academic Success
- Consistent Learning: Daily attendance ensures that students don't miss important lessons, assignments, and exams. Missing even a few days can result in gaps in understanding, making it harder to catch up later.
- Better Grades: Research consistently shows that students with higher attendance perform better academically. Regular attendance is linked to improved test scores, project completion, and overall academic performance.
- Participation: Many activities, such as group projects or class discussions, require consistent presence to fully engage and learn effectively.
2. Building Strong Habits
- Discipline and Responsibility: Attending school every day fosters a sense of responsibility and discipline. These habits carry over into college or the workforce, where regular attendance and punctuality are critical.
- Time Management: Consistently attending school encourages students to develop time management skills, balancing classes, homework, extracurricular activities, and personal time.
3. Social Development
- Peer Interaction: High school is not only about academics but also social learning. Attending regularly allows students to build and maintain friendships, work in teams, and develop interpersonal skills, which are crucial for personal development.
- Emotional Support: Schools provide access to counselors, mentors, and other support systems that can help students navigate challenges both in and out of the classroom.
4. Preparation for the Future
- College Readiness: Many colleges and universities consider attendance and consistency in performance when making admissions decisions. Regular school attendance can also help students prepare for the attendance expectations in higher education.
- Workforce Readiness: Employers value individuals who can show up reliably. Developing a habit of regular attendance in school helps prepare students for the professional world, where consistency is key to success.
5. Avoiding Negative Consequences
- Falling Behind: Absenteeism often leads to missing important information, making it harder to stay on track with assignments and assessments, which can lead to lower grades.
6. Access to Resources
- Extracurriculars and Support: Regular attendance ensures students can participate in extracurricular activities like sports, clubs, and academic support programs that are crucial for college applications and personal growth.
- Health and Safety: Schools provide structure and routine.
In short, attending school every day is fundamental for academic achievement, social development, and the acquisition of life skills.
It is our pleasure to educate your daughters and we thank you for entrusting her education with Archbishop Chapelle High School.
STUDENT LIFE
Exam Information
- Exam dismissal is at 11:30am. The is no lunch or aftercare. Students must be picked up no later than 12:0pm.
- Any student who is on campus and does not have an exam must report to the ARC.

Make a Difference Day - October 15
MANDATORY DAY OF SCHOOL
Parents will receive permission slips for this event. Please be prompt in completing this.
Attendance (MANDATORY): If a student is absent, they will be required to complete their 5 hours of community service on their own. Attendance is mandatory and students may have make up school hours on a Saturday.
Attire: Make a Difference Day t-shirts will be provided to be distributed on Monday, October 14. School
Skirt, Tennis Shoes are required.
Transportation: School Bus to Service Location and back to school.
Lunch: The cafeteria will be serving our regular lunch. Students are allowed to bring their lunch.
Following lunch, students will spend time completing a reflection sheet and discussion. The day will end with a school wide gathering and opportunity to share experiences.
All students will receive five (5) community service hours for this day. This will be entered on their Mobileserve account.
NOTE: EIGHTH GRADE
Parents will receive an additional permission slip for participation in this Oyster Shell Recycling Program
Students will be informed of the logistics and safety of this event.
Students will be provided snacks, lunch, water, sports drinks and equipment (work gloves, sunscreen,
bug spray).
STUDENTS ARE TO BRING A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE to cut down on plastic waste.
Because they are traveling to Violet, Louisiana and their service will involve recycling Oyster shells, they are to wear JEANS.
VOOBOO 2024 October 25
On VOOBOO you can wear the 2024 STUCO shirt or a Chapelle shirt with shorts, athletic skirts, leggings or jeans and tennis shoes. Shorts and athletic skirts must be finger tip in length. This will be checked. If leggings are worn, your shirt must cover your backside or wear something around your waste. Jeans or jean shorts may not have any rips, holes or tears. Students eat out in the field in picnic style, so be sure to bring blankets. Many groups will bring food to share with each other. Dip and Dots will also be on campus that day. Cash only $5-$12.
On VOOBOO the cafeteria will be serving hamburgers and french fries. If you plan to eat school lunch, please let Ms. Smith know by Friday, October 18. We also offer Chick-Fil-A boxes and pizza. Chick-Fil-A includes 8-nuggets with waffle chips and a cookie OR chicken sandwich with waffle fries and a cookie. Pizza choices are 8-slice pepperoni or 8-slice cheese. You must pre-purchase these items and we do not order extra. If you would like to purchase one of these options, please log into the Gulf Bank site. The cost of each item is $10.00. The deadline to purchase one of these items is October 15.
PSAT/ACT
All students will be testing on October 16th. Testing is mandatory.
You will be able to dress down on Test Day. Students are allowed to wear:
- jeans, sweatpants or leggings with no rips, tears or frays
- if you wear leggings your bottom must be covered
- shorts must be finger tipped length
- shirts must have a sleeve, cover your midriff and have an appropriate logo or verbiage
- tennis shoes
Please see below for the testing release times, this is a range of times that students may be dismissed, times are approximate and may vary. There will be no aftercare and no lunch, students should bring a snack during their break time. They will not be able to access their bags or take their bags with them during break so the snack should be placed under their desk area.

- Teams consist of 8 players. A team must have 4 for their match to be played/ counted.
- ONLY 1 VOLLEYBALL PLAYER PER TEAM. (Anyone who is on a Chapelle team)
- Each team must have a captain whom will be my communication point person.
- Each team will play 3-4 warm up/ round robin matches.
- A tournament format will be created for the playoffs (single or double elimination will be decided once teams are finalized)
- Matches will be 1 game to 25.
- If you want to participate in the 2024 Volleyball Intramurals, please bring Coach K a list of your team members and team name.
- The deadline to turn in a team is Tuesday, October 8th.
Thanksgiving and Christmas Assistance
Last year the Archbishop Chapelle Community was able to assist several families in our community for the holidays! With the holidays approaching, we want to be able to assist families in our community again this year! We especially want to be able to support families to give them a fruitful Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please fill out this form by October 22nd if your family is in need or you know someone in need. SAFE ENVIRONMENT - IMPORTANT
Please check your VIRTUS online account to make sure you are in compliant.
This is a reminder that anyone who is an Employee, Educator or Volunteer with minors in the Archdiocese of New Orleans MUST be in compliance with Safe Environment policies and procedures.
Compliance –
· Safe Environment Training before working with minors and every three years as long as they are serving;
· Background Check before working with minors and every three years as long as they are serving;
· Required Documents before working with minors and every year as long as they are serving.
Monday morning, October 7, 2024, ALL employees, educators and volunteers who are not in compliance will be set as INACTIVE in Virtus. They cannot work with minors at this point.
Seniors ACT Account Set Up Information
On Tuesday, October 2nd, you will be getting materials to set up your ACT Account for the digital test on October 16th. You will need to follow the My ACT instructions with how to set up your account. DO NOT use your Chapelle email. You will need to use the same email you have used for the past ACT tests that you have taken in order for colleges to super score your ACT scores. If you do not use the same email, it may mess up your retrieval of your scores and it will be your responsibility to contact ACT to link your accounts. Please make sure that you remember your user name and password for when your scores are released.
Anyone that completes their My ACT registration for the October 16th test BEFORE the test will get to choose FIVE colleges to send their scores to for FREE.
Tickets for Rummel Football Games
Tickets for all Rummel Football games (home and away games) will be sold at Chapelle during lunch on Tuesday in the Perdomo Conference Room. Ticket price is $10 at school and $15 at the gate. Payment at Chapelle can be cash or check made out to Rummel. Save money and purchase your ticket at school. This also lets you by pass the long lines ticket booth.

LEGACY MASS & LUNCH
FOR LEGACY FAMILIES
Our Annual Legacy Mass will be held on Thursday, October 17 at 10:15AM and we would like to invite all alumnae mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunts of current students to attend. This year we will have Mass and also a lunch following. Doors open at 9:50am but please arrive by 10:10am as Mass starts promptly at 10:15AM. Parking will be available behind the gym. Following Mass there will be a boxed lunch, a group legacy picture and Barberito Photography will also be present for additional pictures for purchase. If possible, please wear your senior sweater to mass, and your daughter (or legacy) will have the privilege of wearing it for the rest of the day. We are looking forward to celebrating with you!

CAMPUS MINISTRY
Hallow
Last year, we partnered with Hallow, an amazing online resource for prayer that the students can use in the classroom and in their own personal lives! Having Hallow was a great opportunity that I know many of our students took advantage of. Between the faculty, staff, and students, the Archbishop Chapelle community prayed over 11,000 prayers on Hallow last year!
I am happy to say that we are partnering with Hallow again this year! Every single student will have full access to a Hallow account through their achschipmunks email. They should have, or soon will be receiving an email from Hallow with more information on how to log into their accounts. The students can access Hallow through the web browser on their chromebooks, or they can also download the app on their smartphones if they have one. We will be using Hallow in the Theology classes this year, so it is important that every student knows how to access their accounts.
Parents, Hallow also generously offers a free trial for you! Be on the lookout for more information in the future!

All regular season home game tickets must be purchased through GoFan platform. Currently volleyball season passes are on sale. Individual game tickets will be available starting next week. Cash will not be taken at the door, however tickets can be purchased at the door through the app or with a credit card.

Bullying/Harassment Policy
Bullying is a distinctive pattern of repeatedly and deliberately harming and humiliating others and is characterized by a power imbalance between the two parties. Bullying includes, but is not limited to physical or verbal aggression, relational aggression, or emotional aggression (teasing, threatening, and intimidating others). Relational aggression (RA), is a form of indirect bullying that uses social relationships to manipulate or harm others, such as isolating a student from her group of friends (social exclusion), threatening to stop talking to a friend (the ''silent treatment''), or spreading gossip and rumors. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, slurs, jokes, comments, or other offensive conduct relating to race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic. ***Freshman Retreat will be an evening retreat, starting after school and ending around 9pm. The freshman class will be divided into two groups based on their Theology classes, with each group attending retreat only one of the nights. All freshmen will have off on Friday, Feb. 7, as their retreat holiday.

Important Carpool Information
- Students can only be dropped off or picked up in the Veterans horseshoe or the Montana St. horseshoe by the cafeteria.
- If you enter at Veterans, you must exit onto Veterans. If you enter on Montana, You must exit onto Montana.
- When exiting campus on Montana you MUST turn right. A left turn is not allowed.
- Vehicles cannot enter or exit behind the gym during morning or afternoon carpool.
- These restrictions are in place for the safety of our chipmunks.
- Please help us to keep your children safe.

Dear Lord,
As our students begin a new school year, I pray that you will keep them in your care. Send your Spirit to open their minds to all that is true and beautiful and good. Help them to see the gifts and talents you have given them and to use them well. Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom. Help them to be kind to others and lead others to be kind to them.
Open their young hearts to your presence and enfold them in your peace and protection.
