May 8 Assembly: A Celebration to Close the Year 💚 On May 8, our Chapelle family gathered for the final assembly of the 2025–2026 school year — a morning filled with pride, gratitude, and celebration. The Class of 2026 joined us one last time before heading to their Alumnae Induction Brunch, making the moment even more meaningful. We opened with a beautiful performance by our Chorale, who recently earned a Sweepstakes rating at the LMEA State Large Ensemble Festival — the perfect way to begin a celebration of excellence. Athletic Highlights - Track & Field celebrated multiple school records and standout performances: - Allie Mixon – District Champion in Shot Put and Discus; new school record holder in Shot Put - The 4x800 Relay Team broke the school record twice this season - The 4x400 Relay Team set a new school record - Morgan Abate – third fastest all-time at Chapelle and the first to break 6:00 in the mile since 2018 - Softball advanced to the state semi-finals in Sulphur for the fifth consecutive year. - 1st Team All-District: Kelsie Schmidt, Mia Impastato, Kam DiMaggio, Abbey Capelle, Liv Nevels - 2nd Team All-District: Ava Martinez, Taylor Allen, Addy Robin, Bayeligh Hammer - Bowling celebrated an outstanding season with Addison Belle, Singles State Runner-Up, and Alexandra Young, State MVP. Campus Ministry We proudly recognized students honored by their parishes for outstanding leadership and faith: - Ye’Lina Ortiz - Elizabeth Schexnayder - Alexis Brocato ’29 - Kaleigh Piper ’29 - Madison Rauch ’29 Student & Academic Achievements - Lauren Rieth received the prestigious National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award, one of only two students in Louisiana selected. - We congratulated the Archbishop Rummel Symphonic Band for earning Sweepstakes at District VI. - Students recognized for earning a 30+ on the ACT: Leanne Siverd, Aashna Varkey, and Kathleen Elmer. - District and State Rally participants were also celebrated for their academic excellence. The Class of 2031's First Time on Campus as a Class On March 24, we rolled out the green and white carpet for our newest Chipmunks and their families at Green & White Welcome Night! Our incoming 8th graders were officially introduced for the very first time as the Class of 2031 and received their class t-shirts...a moment that made everything feel real! As they sat together as a class, it was a beautiful reminder that the girls beside them now will be the same ones beside them at graduation. Parents heard from our school leaders, getting a first-hand look at what to expect over the next five years as their daughters begin their high school journeys at Chapelle. The evening offered a glimpse into the academics, faith, friendships, and traditions that make Chapelle so special. What a beautiful night of Chipmunk Spunk! We cannot wait to officially welcome these Future Chips to campus.

Celebrating Those Who Serve: Volunteer Appreciation Party 💚 As we wrapped up a wonderful school year and welcomed the start of summer, we gathered for one of our favorite traditions — the Volunteer Appreciation Party. The evening was filled with good food, refreshing drinks, and even better company as we celebrated the incredible individuals who give so generously of their time and talents to Chapelle. This special night was simply our way of saying thank you for all they do to make our school community so special. Our volunteers are the heart behind so many of the moments that make Chapelle shine. From supporting events to cheering behind the scenes, their dedication and commitment truly makes a difference in the lives of our students and faculty. Each year, as a small token of our gratitude, we hold a blind drawing and select one volunteer family to receive half off their daughter’s tuition for the upcoming school year. We are excited to share that the Dubrock Family was chosen this year! Congratulations and thank you for all you do to help our school thrive. Allie Mixon Named LHSAA District Champion in Shot Put and Discus We are proud to celebrate an incredible accomplishment by senior Allie Mixon, who delivered a standout performance at the LHSAA District Meet on April 23, 2026. Allie placed 1st in both shot put and discus, earning the title of 2026 LHSAA District Champion in both events. This remarkable achievement is a testament to her strength, focus, and dedication throughout the season. To claim a district championship in one event is an impressive feat — to win both throws showcases Allie’s versatility, discipline, and competitive spirit. Her hard work in training and her commitment to excellence truly paid off on the field. Allie’s performance not only reflects her personal determination but also brings great pride to the entire Chapelle community. We are excited to see her continue this momentum as she advances in postseason competition.  Congratulations, Allie! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next.

Alumna Spotlight: Karen Hassinger Virga ’87 💚  We are proud to celebrate Karen Hassinger Virga, Class of 1987, who was recently honored with the Credit Human Teacher Excellence Award, presented by Good Morning Louisiana. This well-deserved recognition highlights her decades of dedication to Catholic education and student leadership. Karen is completing her 34th year of teaching at St. Benilde School, where she has taught every subject to grades 5 through 8 over the years. While much of her career has focused on religion and math, she currently teaches 6th and 7th grade math and science. Beyond the classroom, she has coached for many years and has served as Athletic Director for the past several years. Her commitment to forming young people extends far beyond academics. Karen has long been involved in parish youth ministry, previously serving as Director of St. Catherine of Siena CYO and continuing to volunteer as a coach and chaperone. She remains active in her parish community and is a member of both national and Louisiana professional organizations for math and science educators. This summer, she will also serve as an adult advisor for the WorldStrides Junior National Young Leaders Conference, mentoring middle school student leaders from across the country. Karen credits Chapelle with helping form the strong foundation of faith and perseverance that guides her vocation today. As a Chipmunk athlete and student, she learned teamwork, resilience, and the importance of striving for excellence — lessons she now passes on to her own students. We are incredibly proud of Karen and the countless lives she has impacted through her ministry in education.
