Personal Finance Class Welcomes Guest Speakers to Conclude Its First Year This school year marked an exciting milestone at Archbishop Chapelle High School as we introduced Personal Finance as a new elective for juniors and seniors. This foundational course will officially become a required class for all juniors beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, reflecting our commitment to equipping students with real‑world financial skills that will serve them long after graduation. Throughout the semester, students explored essential financial topics including: • Writing checks and balancing a checkbook • Reconciling accounts and navigating digital banking • Sales tax, discounts, and consumer skills • Budgeting and filing taxes • Basics of credit, debt, and financial decision‑making • Evaluating education return on investment • Financial aid and college planning • Jobs, careers, and employment essentials • Insurance fundamentals • Investing basics The course is taught by Mrs. Stacy C. Woodward ’96, who partnered with Chapelle alumna Andrea Aleman Toro '09 and Edward Jones to strengthen and modernize the curriculum. Students engaged with interactive lessons through the EVERFI online platform, allowing them to apply financial concepts in practical, relevant ways. To conclude the course, Andrea and her husband, Daniel, visited as guest speakers, sharing their professional and academic journeys while introducing students to the “Rules of the Road” and current industry trends in personal finance. They also explained the role of a financial advisor and demonstrated real‑world tools—including using AI—to explore stock analysis and the time value of money. The session wrapped up with a Q&A and a special Chick‑fil‑A lunch generously provided by the speakers. We are thrilled to offer this important course and to prepare our students with knowledge they can begin applying in their daily lives today. At Chapelle, we remain committed to empowering our young women with the skills, confidence, and understanding they need to build a successful financial future.

Chapelle Community Shares the Spirit of the Season Through This Year’s Giving Tree, Sponsored by NHS and NJHS 🎄💚 Each Advent season, the Chapelle community comes together in faith, generosity, and love to support families in need—and this year was no exception. Our 2025 Giving Tree, sponsored by our National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society was a beautiful reminder of what it means to live out the true spirit of Christmas. This year, Chapelle students, faculty, staff, and families selected ornaments from our Giving Tree, each representing a specific gift requested by a local family. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we were able to provide Christmas gifts and support for 7 families in need. From toys and clothing to household items and special wish‑list surprises, every gift was chosen with care and wrapped with love. The joy and hope these gifts bring to families during the holidays is immeasurable—and it is all because of the kindness of our Chipmunk family. A heartfelt thank you to every student, parent, teacher, club, and staff member who participated. Your compassion makes a real difference and reflects the heart of Chapelle: faith in action. May the love shared through our Giving Tree continue to inspire us throughout the Christmas season and into the new year.

Chapelle Students Recognized in the Keep Christ in Christmas Poem Contest The Chapelle community is excited to celebrate two gifted writers whose heartfelt words stood out in this year’s Keep Christ in Christmas Poem Contest! Sophie Taylor earned 1st place in the 6th–8th grade division, capturing the true meaning of the season with a beautifully written poem that reflected faith, joy, and the spirit of Christmas. In the 9th–12th grade division, Angelica Bendeck received 1st place, impressing judges with her thoughtful and inspiring piece that highlighted the central message of Christ’s love during the Christmas season. Both students were honored for their creativity, expression of faith, and dedication to keeping Christ at the heart of Christmas. Congratulations, Sophie and Angelica! Your words remind us of the beauty, hope, and sacred meaning of this holy season. Sophie Taylor' Poem (8th Grade): In the glow of the season, When the lights softly gleam, let us not lose sight of the heart of the dream. Beyond gifts and glitter, Beyond songs that play, lies the love of a savior born on that day. Keep Christ in Christmas, let His light shine through, in kindness, mercy, in all that we do. For the true gift of Christmas was not wrapped in gold, but in swaddling cloth, in a story long told. Angelica Bendeck (10th Grade): When Christmas lights begin to glow, And joyful carols softly flow, Let everyone remember still, The holy gift of God's will. For in a manger, low and bare, The Savior came to meet us there, Not wrapped in gold, nor crowned in fame, But clothed in love, with a humble name. To Keep Christ in Christmas days, Let kindness guide your words and ways, Serve with joy, forgive others and pray, And walk with him each passing day. So, keep his light, so purse, so bright, On this lovely Christmas night.
