Service is at the core of our Catholic Values

Personal commitment to service is a hallmark of a Chapelle student as she grows in wisdom, age and grace. Religion classes at Chapelle require students to put their faith into action by completing mandatory service hours and submitting reflection papers on their experiences. The Matthew 25 Service Program is formation in nature – empowering Chapelle students to recognize and appreciate the depth of fulfillment realized by being of service to others.

Service Hour Requirements for 2022-2023

For the 2022-2023 school year, all students at Archbishop Chapelle High School will be required to complete service hours.

  8th Grade: 10 service hours
9th and 10th Grade: 20 service hours
11th and 12th Grade: 30 service hours

The Service Hours for the 2022-2023 school year must be completed and turned in to Mrs. Brenda Capaci
no later than March 1, 2023.

There are two categories of acceptable service hours:  Community and Chapelle.  Half of the class level requirement MAY be done at Chapelle events if desired, while the other half MUST be done in the outside community.  Please see the following page for what specifically can count towards service hours in the Community and at Chapelle.

A reflection on service, which is a graded component of the service requirement, will be due in the spring on a date announced by the Theology teacher. Rubrics for the reflection assignment will be provided by the Theology teacher. This will be a quiz/project grade.

A student who fails to complete the required service hours may not be allowed to continue attending Archbishop Chapelle High School.

 Directions and Rubric

“’Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’ He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’ And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.’”
