2025-2026 School Shoe Information

The new shoe policy will go into effect next year. ALL students must purchase the new shoe. Doc Martens and Eastlands are no longer part of the uniform. The shoe may be purchased at Ponseti's and is called School Issue Semester-Tan suede.

A picture of the shoe and a copy of the flier with all of the information on purchasing is attached. Ponseti's has been wonderful to work with! Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions.

Bibles

For the past several years, all students have received a Bible that is used in their Theology classes. All students were sent a google form this week asking if they need a new Bible for next school year. This is in case anyone has lost their Bible, or if their Bible has been damaged beyond repair and the students need a new one. As a reminder, the Bible is required for all Theology classes at Archbishop Chapelle High School.

The Bibles are typically $49.95; however, you can receive one at a discounted price since we are making a bulk order; so this would be cheaper than having to go purchase one individually! The Bibles will cost $25. Please talk to your daughters and ask them if they need a new Bible! Quarter 3 Honor Roll

Vaccines: VERY IMPORTANT

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, all students in 11th grade or 16 years old MUST receive the 2nd dose of the Meningococcal vaccine .

If your daughter turns 16 years old before the first day of school, she MUST have received this vaccine in order to attend school.
Once your daughter turns 16, she has a month to have the vaccine or she is then considered past due and cannot attend school.
Students must wait until their 16th birthday in order for the vaccine to be accepted by the state.
If your daughter gets the vaccine before her 16th birthday it is not valid. (DO NOT get the vaccine before your daughter’s 16th birthday)

Hepatitis A vaccinations

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, all students entering school must have record of 2 doses of Hepatitis A vaccinations before being allowed to attend school.

Please check with your doctor to make sure that your daughter is up to date on the Hepatitis A vaccines.
If your daughter needs the vaccine, it must be completed before the first day of school.

Parents & Guardians,

When report cards are emailed each quarter, there is a link for you to access the report card. That link is only active for 2 weeks.

You are always able to access your daughter's most recent report card for the current school year through the FACTS Family Portal.

These are the directions on how to access a report card:

Log in to your FACTS family portal account.
Select “Student” from the menu.
Select “Report Card” from the menu. The most recent report card from the current school year will be displayed.

All regular season home game tickets must be purchased through GoFan platform. Currently volleyball season passes are on sale. Individual game tickets will be available starting next week. Cash will not be taken at the door, however tickets can be purchased at the door through the app or with a credit card.

Bullying/Harassment Policy

Bullying is a distinctive pattern of repeatedly and deliberately harming and humiliating others and is characterized by a power imbalance between the two parties. Bullying includes, but is not limited to physical or verbal aggression, relational aggression, or emotional aggression (teasing, threatening, and intimidating others). Relational aggression (RA), is a form of indirect bullying that uses social relationships to manipulate or harm others, such as isolating a student from her group of friends (social exclusion), threatening to stop talking to a friend (the ''silent treatment''), or spreading gossip and rumors. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, slurs, jokes, comments, or other offensive conduct relating to race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic. Bullying, relational aggression (including cyber-bullying), and harassment will not be tolerated. Please use the forms below to report bullying.

Students can only be dropped off or picked up in the Veterans horseshoe or the Montana St. horseshoe by the cafeteria.
If you enter at Veterans, you must exit onto Veterans. If you enter on Montana, You must exit onto Montana.
When exiting campus on Montana you MUST turn right. A left turn is not allowed.
Vehicles cannot enter or exit behind the gym during morning or afternoon carpool.
These restrictions are in place for the safety of our chipmunks.

On Thursday, May 8, the Class of 2025 and their loved ones had a busy day of Graduation fun! In the morning, Archbishop Chapelle High School hosted the 2025 Baccalaureate Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral, and in the afternoon, Graduation was held at the Pontchartrain Center. May Crowning Mass

On Thursday, May 15th at 10:25am Chapelle will celebrate May Crowning Mass.

Please read the following Mass reminders:

All students must wear their formal sweater to Mass. The formal sweater consists of the green v-neck pullover, senior sweater or Ambassador jacket. No other outerwear may be worn at Mass.
Parents cannot drop off your formal sweater to the front office. Please make sure to locate your formal sweater and put it by your school bag Wednesday evening.
Students cannot check out during Mass. Please plan accordingly.
Parents are welcomed to attend Mass. Appropriate attire required. No jeans please.

My tour of the Fox 8 studio was more than anything I could imagine. During my tour of the Fox 8 studio, I was allowed to meet many news journalists and understand how each person plays a significant role in helping broadcast consistent and accurate news. While taking my tour, I could see the meteorology aspect of the news and understand how meteorologists collect their data and prepare for their news segments. After viewing the meteorology side of the news, I watched a little of Sean Fazende and Garland Gillen during their sports segment in person. Next, we proceeded into the control room and I met all of the brains behind the news and learned how they work around the clock, making sure that each person knows what they will say and when they are on air to speak.

At the end of my tour, I met Hannah Gard, a relatively new meteorologist team member. Before all the meteorologists had to prepare for the 4 o'clock news, Bruce Katz, Hannah Gard, and Nicondra Norwood sat down with me and gave me fantastic advice about what I should expect going into the meteorology field. They also took the time to get to know me and understand my goals, allowing them to advise me on the direction I should be taking. This experience was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. I am genuinely grateful to Bruce Katz and the Fox 8 family for taking the time out of their busy schedules to allow me to visit. It gave me the motivation I needed as I prepare to graduate and go to college to major in broadcast meteorology. Lastly, I am so excited to start this life journey, and I hope one day I can return to New Orleans and work for Fox 8 as a meteorologist.

We also recognized our Outstanding Catholic Students of the Year and celebrated our incredible faculty and staff members for their dedication and years of service—10, 15, 20, and even 35+ years! Outstanding Catholic Student Awards:

The Outstanding Catholic Student Award is presented annually to a student from each class level who exemplifies her faith and gives witness to her Catholic Identity on the campus of Archbishop Chapelle High School and in the community. This morning we will recognize the Outstanding Catholic Students for each grade for the 2024-2025 school year. The Our Lady of Prompt Succor Award, inaugurated in 2018 to recognize a Senior for her overall time at Chapelle, will be presented at the Baccalaureate Mass on May 7th.

Her leadership as the moderator of Chapters with Chipmunks and our new Alumnae Book Club continues to foster a lifelong passion for reading within our Chapelle community.

Kyle Wooderson - 10 years of service

From shaping young minds as a Social Studies Department Head to guiding academic excellence as our Director of Curriculum and Instruction, his impact on our school is immeasurable. His past leadership of Quiz Bowl and Mock Trial has challenged students to think critically, compete passionately, and strive for success beyond the classroom.

Melissa Savoie, Class of 1997 - 20 years of service

As an inspiring English teacher and founder of the CARE Club, she has instilled a love for learning and compassion in countless students. Her Chapelle legacy continues through her two daughters, future Chipmunks who will follow in her footsteps of excellence and service.

Liz Campbell, Class of 1990 - 30 years of service

From inspiring students as a teacher and Swim Coach to guiding them as the Driver’s Ed Coordinator and now leading as our Director of Technology, her impact on our school is profound. 2025 Induction Class of the Archbishop Chapelle Athletics Hall of Fame

Recently, we inducted 18 dedicated members of the Chapelle Family into our Chapelle Athletics Hall of Fame! It was so exciting to welcome these ladies back on campus and celebrate their incredible achievements. From record-breaking performances to outstanding leadership, these honorees have left a lasting impact on Chapelle Athletics.

Teams Inducted:

The 1975 Indoorball Team -

The 1975 Indoorball team defeated Sacred Heart in the District Championship then went on to defeat them a second time in the City Championship game. The 1975 Indoorball City Championship was the first Championship won by a Chapelle athletic team in school history.

The 1977 Volleyball Team -

The 1977 Volleyball team finished the season with only one loss and finished as City Champions. This marked the first time the Chapelle volleyball program had won the City Championship.

Individual Inductees:

Coach Jacquita Geise -

Coach Geise was the first physical education teacher to be hired when Chapelle opened its doors in 1962.

From the beginning of the physical education department and the athletic program Coach Geise did everything from teaching the classes to coaching all the teams. Coach Geise coached and taught at Chapelle from 1962 until her retirement in 1982.

Coach Geise was represented at the ceremony by the following family members:

Paige Huber-Pitts '97 -

Paige was a member of the 1995 Volleyball State Championship team, which is the first Chapelle team to win a State Championship. She was 3-times named to the All-District Volleyball team and 2-times named to the All-State volleyball team. Paige went on to play volleyball in college at the University of New Orleans, she was also an assistant coach with the UNO volleyball program.

In 2007 Paige became the first full time Athletic Director at Chapelle. From 2007 through 2015 while athletic director, Chapelle athletic teams won seven district championships and played for the basketball State Championship twice, winning it in 2009.

Barbara Klingman '76 -

Barbara played basketball and volleyball while a student at Chapelle. She was team captain in 1975 and 1976. Barbara was a member of the 1976 Basketball City Championship team that is already in our Hall of Fame. While a student Ms. Klingman was vice president of the National Honors Society and vice president of her senior class.

Barbara was awarded the first athletic scholarship ever given to a female athlete by Tulane University. She graduated from Tulane University and went on to earn her Master’s degree from Texas A&M University and her Doctorate from the College of William and Mary. She worked as a college professor until her retirement.

Chapelle's Lost Piece of Art History, and How We Can Bring It Back!

Chapelle’s chapel is not only being refurbished, but being put in an entirely new theology-focused building. My only question is: what will happen to the round building’s mural?

Most students have no idea what I’m talking about. In the round building, going up it’s single staircase, there’s a mural inspired by art history and famous paintings in each era. It was painted by Christine Bradley, Kristen Junod, and Amy Quinette in 2001 and is a testament to the artistic and creative freedom students at Chapelle have. This mural demonstrates our fine arts program and the expressive development of students that is fostered through our programs. The chapel’s mural, though not seen by many, is one of my favorite parts of Chapelle that showcases our most artistic and well-trained students. The creativity exhibited in this small section of our school is also an important part of preserving past students' marks in the school community. I believe there have been many wasted opportunities to inspire the current generation of fine arts students at Chapelle by not outwardly showing them this piece from its past. This piece proves to our young artists that their capabilities are not limited and that the school cares to showcase and integrate their work into the buildings of this very school. Having a mural done by students and aspiring creatives promotes appreciation and recognition of our fine arts programs, inspires a new generation of Chapelle students, and helps current students leave their mark on our school.

Where do we go from here? The round building is most likely being demolished or completely reconstructed. There is no saving Chapelle’s 2001 art history mural, but there is one solution. I propose that instead of art history, the Chapelle administration and fine arts directives collaborate on a new history mural, this one of a more theological background. Since this building will be home to the new theology classrooms and chapel, the mural could be a timeline of major theological events. I think it’s important to involve students in the creation of this mural and use it as a bonding experience between campus ministry and fine arts students.

Chips Named 2025 Ochsner Super STEM Student MVPs

2025 Ochsner Super STEM Student MVPs

Five Chipmunks were chosen as a 2025 Ochsner Super STEM Student MVP, presented by Ochsner Health and The Super Bowl Host Committee! The committee received project submissions from students all across Louisiana and they made it clear that our Chipmunks are student leaders in STEM and that they have developed a strong set of skills in STEM!

Congratulations to the following students for this amazing academic accomplishment:

�� Simone Guidry - "I researched and experimented on the question, 'Which physical therapy hand exercises are most beneficial in improving penmanship in a person’s non-dominant hand?' I tested three different groups: hand-eye coordination, hand strength, and sentence repetition. I found that all of the groups produced a positive change in a person's handwriting, but repetition was the most successful."

�� Libbey Luminais - "I explored the work of performance trainers, which led me to investigate the impact of ankle weights on hip strength. My research question—'Do exercises involving ankle resistance weights enhance hip strength and balance time in dance?'—was tested through three different exercises using ankle weights, followed by measuring my balance time in a studio setting. Ultimately, I found that performing ankle weight exercises, particularly flutter kicks, led to a noticeable improvement in my balance time, confirming that ankle weights can be an effective tool for dancers aiming to boost strength and stability."

�� Alaina Sauvage - "In my project, I investigated the different effects between protein and carbohydrates and their effect on performance in golf. I performed a 2-week long experiment testing energy bars that were protein-based and carbohydrate-based. I recorded my scores each day to see if one showed an increase in performance."

�� Rihanna Valle - "My STEM project was testing whether or not plyometric workouts helped increase a volleyball players' jumping vertical. Being a member of the Chapelle volleyball program, I was able to receive the data that was compiled over a 6 month period of 8th, JV, and Varsity's vertical progression. Players worked out multiple times throughout the week and even if injury occurred, once the player was cleared to start working out again, the data showed that their vertical increased."

�� Audrey Weider - "Throughout my trials, I discovered how energy drinks and sports drinks affect athlete's reaction times in aerobic exercises. I performed experiments where I had people drink energy drinks and perform an exercise, then I did the same with the sports drinks, and water. I then compared the results to the group of people drinking water, and concluded which group had better reaction time for each drink/person!"

With students from all over Louisiana teaming up with world-renowned clinicians, the energy was buzzing with creativity and incredible music. Chips Celebrate Pro-Life Week!

From January 13th through the 21st, Chapelle celebrates Pro-Life Week. We keep the lives of babies who have died as a result of abortion in mind during this week by partaking in activities such as guessing the faculty's baby photos, a scavenger hunt, a baby supply drive, praying the rosary in the grotto, and wearing our Pro-Life t-shirts.

Pro-Life Week allows Chapelle students and faculty to not only enjoy the many events but also take time to pray for babies who have died due to abortion. The activities that we do all have a meaning and reason behind them. Each of these experiences reminds us that all lives are valuable and made in the image of the Lord. For example, our chips can partake in events such as rosary in the grotto and a baby scavenger hunt. During the scavenger hunt, students search around the courtyard for the golden baby Jesus in the same way we search for him in our everyday lives. Also, our chips celebrate Pro-Life Week by praying the rosary in the grotto to pray for all lives taken by abortion.

Furthermore, we would like to mention some impactful quotes from faculty and students received throughout this week. Mrs. Lannan, Director of Campus Ministry, gave some insightful words, saying the importance of Pro-Life Week is "To educate our school on what it means to be Pro-Life and to encourage our students who are striving to fight for pro-life rights!"

Also, a quote we received from a Chapelle student is, "Pro-life is very meaningful to me because it is the protection of all human life. No matter how insignificant people may view the life that's being protected, it truly shows how valued and important every life is." Shelby Wells '27. In conclusion, Pro-Life Week allows students and faculty to become educated on Pro-Life, enjoy fun activities, and understand that every life is valuable.

An 8th Grader's Guide to High School

Do you wonder how our 8th graders are after their first semester in high school? Starting high school at a different school with new people can be alarming, but these eighth-graders at Chapelle share their experiences of starting high school firsthand. We reached out to 8th graders about how their first semester went. Here are some tips and advice from the Class of 2029 to incoming 8th graders!

Eighth-grade year can be intimidating for girls, with being in a new environment with new people and new opportunities. Some girls go into high school not knowing many people. But, here at Chapelle, we have many opportunities to bond with your grade and make new friendships that could last a lifetime! After easing into the new school year in the first semester, the Class of 2029 is learning the ropes around Chapelle. These girls, who are involved in many activities around the school, give advice on how to balance school and extracurriculars while enjoying their first year in high school!

Being involved at Chapelle will help you to meet new people and experience new opportunities. “I was worried about my classes and worried I would make a bad first impression. However, my sisters at Chapelle helped me through it! I was able to get through my 1st semester with no stress. My advice for future 8th graders is to not worry and be involved!”, says Caroline Gaudet ‘29, who is involved in activities like Hi-Steppers and Student Council. Having no stress and taking it one day at a time is key to enjoying high school. Remy Robin ‘29, who is a Chapelle Cheerleader and also the eighth-grade class vice president, balances academics and activities at Chapelle. “My best advice for an incoming 8th grader is to definitely ask all the questions and get all the help that you can and don’t be scared to tell the teacher when you don’t understand and make sure to really try and study.” Asking questions will help you to better understand the topic and form a better relationship with your teachers. “My first semester as an 8th grader was great! If I could give any advice it would be to join clubs and be as involved as you can. Also to go to all the beginning of the year events like back-to-school dances.”, Madelyn Dabdoub ‘29 says. Making friends and being involved at the beginning of the year will help you adjust more easily and see all that Chapelle has to offer. With all these tips and tricks, the Class of 2029 wishes the Class of 2030 the best of luck as they embark on their new journey into high school!

Chapelle Soccer Senior Night: A Victory Against the Swamp Owls!

At Muss Bertolino on January 13th, 2025, the Archbishop Chapelle Soccer Chips held senior night against the Kenner Discovery Swamp Owls. The student section has never been bigger, everyone came out to show support for the soccer team, especially their senior, Sophia Altamirano.

Senior night is a tradition among all the sports to Honor the Seniors on the team. The soccer chips celebrated Sophia Altamirano, the team's one and only senior. At the start of the soccer game, the Chipmunks had a rough start, the Swamp Owls were beating them by two points. Then, Darcy Garvey scored on a penalty kick, leaving the score 2-1 going into halftime. In the second half, the team's drive to win doubled. They didn’t let a single ball pass them. During a corner kick, Sophia Altamirano received the kick and sent it straight into the goal, making the score tied. They kept fighting hard, their determination to win tripled, and with minutes left in the game Darcy Garvey kicked a beautiful curve ball, from a corner kick, straight into the goal, turning the tables and putting the Chipmunks in the lead, and inevitably winning the game. The Chipmunks Soccer team’s head coach, Neal Dunn, stated, “They did an amazingly great job!”

After an hour and twenty minutes in the freezing cold, the Chapelle Soccer Chips came out on top. After the winning game, the team gathered to recognize Sophia’s devotion to the team. Coach Kai Mccurley says: “Sophia is a great example of a team leader who digs down deep, plays with passion, and supports her teammates through both words and actions.” The team gathered to celebrate Sophia and her years of dedication, support, and guidance to the team. The team’s enthusiasm was at an all-time high after winning their senior night! Senior Sophia Altamirano says, “My team is more than just players; it’s a family. Thank you Chapelle Soccer for the memories.”

Packing Spiritually & Physically for the March!

The March for Life is an event where each year people across the world march in Washington D.C on the protection of the unborn and the living. The March for Life typically occurs towards the end of January. This year the March for Life will take place on January 24, 2025. Throughout the week before students leave for the march, Chapelle students organize Pro-Life Week to get students excited for the march and to promote the cause. While putting their focus on the excitement of going on the march, students struggle with figuring out the essential items to pack. As a result, they tend to pack too little or too much. In this article, students, teachers, and faculty give helpful information and share things they have packed too much or did not bring enough.

In getting sidetracked on physically packing their suitcase, students forget the need to spiritually prepare themselves. The March gives students ample opportunities to grow their faith and talk with those around them who have the same beliefs. The campus minister at Archbishop Chapelle High School Ms. Lannan talks about the best way to prepare for the March for Life is “Prayer! ” She even goes on to explain the opportunities given for students to grow their faith and prayer life by saying, “We even sent all the students a Litany from John Paul II that ends on the day we leave. Praying this will help students be open to whatever the Lord wants to do on this trip!” She also continues to say, “ Students experience more than just the march; they also attend mass, listen to talks, and even enjoy a mini retreat while on the March for Life.” From the information given by Ms. Lannan, students are exposed to many good opportunities that will allow them to grow in their faith and experience God in so many different ways.

Lastly, we were given beneficial information, in interviews with teachers, students, and faculty about their personal experiences from the march and helpful information with packing. First, we asked, “ How has the march impacted you?” Mrs. Susie Vollenwieder, senior class religion teacher, responded by saying, “ Being with like minded people who have the same morals and values as you and seeing the thousands of people that are for life is something I will never forget.” Secondly, when asked, “What is something students forget to pack or that you forgot to pack?” Rachelann Potter, a senior class member, responded by saying, “ On my trip I forgot to pack an extra hat.” Lastly, we asked Mrs. Stacy Woodward, Director of Student Activities, “What is one thing you have overpacked or that students have overpacked?” She responded by saying, “I have noticed students tend to overpack on clothes to be outside but forget to bring clothes to be inside because you are typically not outside for too long.” Thanks to students, teachers, and faculty for sharing their experiences, the students attending the March for Life this year know how to spiritually and physically prepare themselves.

More Than a Club!

At Chapelle, students are encouraged to stay involved in various activities. This week on Wednesday, students had the opportunity to visit with their B Clubs, which they see once a month. The clubs that are offered are Garden Club, Photography Club, Women of Christ, and Tri-M.

Chapelle offers students a designated club day every week to give students the opportunity to find a community that shares the same interests as them. This month, the garden club finished painting Mother's day pots to sell to students. The club members work tirelessly to create beautiful pots that our student’s mothers will cherish. Addison Bie exclaimed, “It’s great to be creative with nature.”. During the Women of Christ meeting, they discussed the influence of St. Monica on learning patience and trusting in the Lord’s plan. At the end of every meeting, the club officers leave a challenge for the club members to accomplish before the next meeting. When asked to explain why she ran for office, Vice President, Katie Scuderi says, “I looked up to the girls above me and I saw how much they loved Jesus.”

Senior Class Historian, Dalila Gulati states, “Having our club meetings during S period allows everyone the chance to get involved. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to join in on the clubs that I am interested in. I personally am involved in much before and after school and rarely have those times available. With clubs at Chapelle, I get to apply myself in a plethora of my interests and also find new interests or hobbies such as gardening!

Chips Take On Career Day!

Archbishop Chapelle High School welcomed back over 90 alumni on campus. They explained their careers to our student body and gave our students critical knowledge and advice on deciding career choices for their futures. Career Day occurred at the beginning of our second semester, January 10, 2025.

Career Day helps our students glance at many different careers they may be interested in. Many students were able to find careers they had no idea they might have been interested in. Chapelle has career day to give students a look at what they picture their future to be and helps them figure out what they want to be in life. Career Day offers people the chance to talk to different people and get a point of view on what they do and how they accomplished their dreams. Career day had over 90+ alums in different careers talking about what they do, and students could learn more about jobs they might have been interested in. Overall, this day went terrifically, and students were able to get more information on different careers that could help them in the future.

Career day is an important event at school that helps our students decide their career paths. It allows us to explore different careers we may not have thought about. We can choose from various professions we could discover for the rest of our lives. Junior Kai Jones states, "Career Day was an amazing experience, and I had so much fun learning about different careers. One of the highlights was sitting in on a session with the Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through running and mentorship. It was a truly eye-opening experience, and it made me realize how impactful nonprofit work can be, especially when it helps to create positive change in the lives of young people." Our students love Career Day. Heather Hymel says, "Career Day can help you find careers that you would never have thought you were interested in, and it opened my eyes to the different career paths I could choose. I love Career Day because of how helpful it is!" Our teachers love watching the girls and hearing the speakers as well. For example, Julie Rodrigue said, "I believe career day is so important for high schoolers to begin thinking about their futures! We can take many career paths, and it's important to be exposed to as many as possible. I witnessed students learn about a career and organization they might not have learned about otherwise. I am so grateful for the counselors and alumni who made Career Day possible."

Chips Get Involved!

There are many ways to get involved at Archbishop Chapelle High School in Metairie, Louisiana. The students here have multiple opportunities to be in clubs or activities doing hobbies they love. There are many organizations for them such as Sports, Student Council, Campus Ministry, Dance/Cheer, and Academics. Most of these clubs or activities happen year-round, so the students will always have fun extracurricular activities.

Being involved is always a good way to enhance your high school experience. By being in clubs or activities after school, you get a chance to make more friends and get to know more about the people around you. There are always ways for you to get involved at Chapelle, whether it is your first or last year of high school, you will still have chances to get involved. For example, if you are interested in Student Council, there are general meetings every Monday after school for only 30 minutes. Campus Ministry has monthly events like Campus Ministry night. Campus Ministry night is a great event because it is an amazing way to grow in your faith, while also finding close friends along the way.

We asked some students around the school how they got involved here at Chapelle and they all had varying answers. Abby Hebbler, Class of 2026, said, “Stuco…offers you many opportunities to spend time at school participating in events. Personally, as a class officer, I am able to plan events and inform the Chapelle student body.”. There are many different ways to be an active member of Student Council. For example, you could just be a general member, homeroom representative, class officer, or student council officer. Each role has opportunities to make friends and get to know Chapelle as a whole. Another great way to get involved is Campus Ministry. Cadance Corcoran, Class of 2025, told us, “The people in Campus Ministry are there for you during the hardships in your faith and want to guide you back to God.”. All of the students in Campus Ministry are in the club to grow closer to God. The students in Campus Ministry are so welcoming to anyone. Sports is also a really good way for students to be involved here. Blythe Bonnaffons, Class of 2026, member of the volleyball team, said, “I've met so many new girls…Many of them have even influenced me to join other clubs and sports like tennis and made me even more involved in Chapelle.”. Not only is sports a good way for students to make many friends, but also it is a good way for students to stay active during their years at Chapelle. We also interviewed Kayden Dempster, Class of 2025, member of The Chapellette Dance Team, who said, “We perform at pep rallies at Chapelle and get so much support from our school…Being a leader of the team has shown me that I am truly where I am supposed to be.”. By getting involved, you have the chance to become a leader for your team. In conclusion, there are so many opportunities here at Chapelle for you to get involved in.

Are you looking for tips for your upcoming high school experience? Here are 5 tips from Chapelle students on how to succeed academically, socially, and spiritually. The students at Chapelle have gone through the whole process of being an 8th grader and are here to provide support and answers to your questions.

At Chapelle, we are highly encouraged to be involved with extracurricular activities. We have fun events such as Rally, Rummel/Chapelle Challenge, and many more things. Coming to a new school can be very challenging and scary. At Chapelle, we strive to get everyone involved and more comfortable. It is important to value your time at Chapelle especially, your first year as you get to make new friends and be in a new environment.

We asked 5 girls for some tips on how to have the best experience at Chapelle. Avery Spadoni 10th grade said, “Being on Chapelle athletics is an experience like no other. I love my teammates and the atmosphere is amazing. This team creates lifelong friendships and sisters that always have your back.” From 9th grade Madelyn Allesandro said, “Some tips I'd give for making friends at Chapelle would be to find people who have the same interests as you, like they're in the same club or play the same sport as you. Also, you want to surround yourself with the people who love you and bring you closer to the Lord.” Olivia Wurster said ”By getting involved in events at school such as rally and challenge, I really allowed myself to get out of my comfort zone and grow relationships with everyone in my class. I've done things I never thought I would do like trying out for a challenge game, becoming a rally cheerleader, and even becoming a committee head for the student council. Since I got involved in all kinds of different events, my experience so far at Chapelle has been 10 times better and I've made so many more relationships not only with classmates but with teachers as well.”

Seniors Give Their Best Advice!

Senior year is a monumental moment in your life, full of final goodbyes and lasting memories. That’s why we’ve compiled three pieces of advice from the Class of ‘25 to help make the most out of your senior year.

1st: Remember to relax.

It’s easy to get caught up in the anxieties of deadlines and assignments. However, as class president, Sophie Panzavaccia reminds us, “ You have spent the past four years preparing and working hard for senior year, and especially graduation,” Now, it is time to embrace your accomplishments and be proud of how far you’ve come.

2nd: Branch out.

Senior Year is a perfect time to try new things and become friends with new people. Don’t limit yourself to just being friends with your lunch. Make an effort to become closer to the rest of the amazing girls in your class. By branching out you can strengthen the sisterhood that Chapelle is known for, creating memories to last a lifetime. (Plus, it might help you WIN Rally!!!)

3rd: Soak in every Moment

This is the last year you get to bond with your classmates, teachers, and Little Sis so enjoy the moment. In the words of Kenzie Clark ‘25 “Go to every game, go all out for every spirit day, attend all STUCO/ Campus Ministry Events, and be KIND to EVERYONE on campus!” Make it your goal to graduate high school having lived each moment to the fullest and taking nothing for granted.

Chipmunks vs Crescents!

The Chipmunks are about to kick off their 2025 bowling season, and the bowling team is excited about it! The official opening game for the season is against Cabrini on Thursday, January 23, at Bowlero Kenner!

However, these aren’t the first games that our bowling team has done in preparation for this year's season. There have been two unofficial scrimmages against Brother Martin and Holy Cross. The score against Brother Martin was 15-12, with Chapelle sadly losing to Brother Martin by only ninety pins. The score against Holy Cross was 14-15, with Chapelle winning the scrimmage! The reason for these scrimmages is to prepare their new bowlers for our future official games in a more low-stakes setting while showing them what official bowling games are like!

In preparation for their opening game and for the rest of the season, the bowling chips have been hard at work. The bowling chipmunks have been training off-season in unofficial practice with a bowling tutor named Ms. Betty at Bowlero Kenner, as long as official practices with the team at Colonial lanes with our coaches, Coach Dorthoy and Coach Warren.

However, even with this preparation, the school’s bowling chips are still bursting with excitement and nerves with this upcoming opening game.

When asked how they were feeling about the opening game for this season, senior Oliva Bares answered, “Going into the 2025 high school bowling season, I am feeling very confident in the team. The hard work and determination are evident, and this group of girls is capable of so much. I’m looking forward to seeing how far we will go. I know it will be an emotional season since it’s my last one, but I won’t let that get in the way of helping lead the team. I have absolutely no doubt this will be a great year. GEAUX CHIPS!”

When asked this question, junior Alex Young said, “I would say I am feeling very confident about the opening game. I am also very excited to see how our opponents will help us grow."

When 8th grader Ava Krieger was asked this question, she responded with: “I’m feeling excited and ready for the opening game! It’s always a great opportunity to set the tone for the season, and I’m confident in my team’s preparation. We’ve been practicing hard, and I’m looking forward to seeing how we perform under pressure!”

Our bowling chips have full confidence in themselves despite any potential nerves, and they’re ready to show everyone what they can do! This game is on January 23, so mark your calendars and come see the bowling chips!

Battle at the Burrow!

On January 11th, 2025 the Archbishop Chapelle Cheer team held a competition, called Battle at the Burrow. At this competition there were three schools that competed! The teams were, St. Catherine of Sienna, St. Philip Neri, and St. Angela Merici. This competition was definitely a success and the cheer team can’t wait to host the competition again!

The Chapelle cheer team used this competition as a way to raise money for the team in future years. The competition was hosted in the Chapelle gym, which is also called the Burrow. The team sold merchandise, like T-shirts, shorts, hats and much more, which the middle school teams loved. The team has done many other fundraisers but none quite like this.

We talked with Chapelle cheer coach Kayla Reinmiller and she said, “ At first I was apprehensive about doing this event for the first time, but after seeing the successful outcome, I look forward to doing it again.” The Chapelle cheerleaders had many favorite parts from this event but freshman SuSu Indoniva said, “My favorite part was performing our game day routine for the little kids to help us get ready for nationals.” The Chapelle cheerleaders are leaving soon to go to NCA nationals in Dallas, Texas, so this was a great way for them to practice. Sophomore and Officer Molly White said “My favorite part was seeing how excited all the little girls were to perform.” The Chapelle cheerleaders loved using this event as a way to inspire little girls and get ready for nationals!

The Annual Raffle Kickoff!

On January 10th, the annual chipmunk raffle kicked off at our Friday Assembly. The raffle includes prizes for parents, students, and faculty. The school offers students many things, including lunch off campus with nine friends, $30 gift cards, an Ice Cream Party, and more. Students can even get the day after the Rally off if they sell all their tickets!

The students can get these prizes all by selling these tickets, which they can do by just asking parents and family members to buy them. The school offers this raffle as a chance for parents to, not only win money but also to give back to their school community. Many times during the year, the Chapelle community has a chance to give back to their school. No matter what kind of event or game, the community is always there, supporting our students!

We have reached out to a couple of students and faculty members about how they feel about the raffle, and here is what they had to say! " The Chapelle Raffle is a great opportunity for members of the Chapelle community to come together to raise money for the future of Chapelle!" said Ms. Reinmiller, a counselor at Chapelle. Chloe Desselles says, “I feel that the raffle will help improve my years at Chapelle and give me opportunities that other schools do not have.” Miley Perkins, a Chapelle Ambassador Officer, states, “The Chapelle Raffle is a perfect opportunity for students, faculty/staff, alumni, and the Chapelle community to give back to the school that we all love so much!” As our raffle pulling starts getting closer and closer, we thank everyone for all the money, time, and effort the Chapelle community has gifted us with!

Creating Cookies in the Chapelle Community!

Baking cookies for the St. Joseph's Altar gives the community a chance to give back to Chapelle. On January, 17th, 28th, 24th, and 25th, students, alumni, and families gathered in the Chapelle cafeteria to make an assortment of Italian cookies.

In order to find out exactly what the St. Joseph Altar baking days mean to members of the community, we asked a few people who attended about their experience. Junior Addie Little stated, “It’s important because from all over the community people come to school to see what we have made from St. Joseph’s Altar and to help make cookies for people who can not bake or they don’t know how to bake these types of cookies. Faculty member, Ms. Diane, had similar things to say, “I am blessed and I love it and I wouldn’t miss it for the world because we are giving back and He, Jesus, sees that.” We also talked to Senior Lynsey Marrone, who has been attending baking days for a very long time, “I’ve been doing baking days since I was 8 and it’s always so fun. I’ve made so many friends, learned so much, and always look forward to the next baking day.”

Once the baking is done, the cookies are used to decorate the altar, as well as given to members of the community in gift bags. After hearing from all of the volunteers, we can see how gathering for the St. Joseph's Day Altar Baking Days is a great way to give back to the Chapelle community.

Freshmen Start Their Engines!

Vroom...Vroom, Do you hear that? That's the sound of the Freshmen preparing for Rally here at Archbishop Chapelle High School. Back in October, the freshmen voted for their Rally theme “Freshman to the Finish Line.” Since then, the freshmen have been working tirelessly to prepare themselves for the big day in February. You may ask, how have they been preparing for Rally? The class of 2028 has had multiple decoration meetings, as well as skit practice, cheer practice, and picking out their costumes. If you can’t tell, Rally is a big deal to the chipmunks.

For those who have never heard of Rally, it takes place right before Mardi Gras break, and is everyone’s favorite day of the year! It is a day full of school spirit, competition between the grades, and smiles everywhere you look. Rally is the ultimate bonding for each individual class especially through the preparation that goes into this day. However, the rally cheerleaders are the ones who make the magic happen. The Rally cheerleaders are voted for by the freshman class, and they are the ones who come up with the cheers. The class officers each have a specific role in preparation. One is in charge of skit, another for silly games, and the others have their roles too. Cheer, skit, and silly game practices all occur within the school day, either during lunch or period S. While decoration and costume meetings happen at separate locations at any given time on the weekends or days off. The preparation for Rally would not be possible without Rally cheerleaders, class officers, as well as skit, silly games, and decoration members.

While preparing for Rally is a lot of hard work, it is also very rewarding. Let’s see what our class officers think about rally preparation! “The hardest part when preparing for the rally is finding a day that works best for all the cheerleaders so we can make up the cheers and lyrics” -Ava Kennedy, class Secretary. We appreciate the hard work of the rally cheerleaders more than they know. They are very busy so for them to dedicate hours of their time is a blessing and we love them for this! "For me, the most rewarding part of rally preparation is when everything comes together in the end, and you realize that you've just created something that is not only super awesome but also very memorable for you, as well as your class." - Charlotte LaHatte, Freshmen class Historian. Rally truly is such a memorable experience. “When girls in our grade help out with Rally it really lifts the stress off of the officers. I feel that when people offer to help paint or help make cheers it makes the whole rally experience more enjoyable and fun. After you have dedicated your time to helping with Rally it is such a reward on rally day seeing the things you created really come together.” - Anna Claire Occhipinti, Freshman class President. Seeing the whole class come together definitely makes the day one to remember. While Rally may seem like it happens spontaneously, it actually takes a ton of work that can make a bond that will last a lifetime.

Chapellettes and Hi-Steppers take on the American All-Star State Championship!

This past weekend, the Chapellettes and Hi-Steppers competed in the American All-Star State Championship. The American All-Star State Championship is a two-day competition in which teams go head to head in many different divisions. Both teams have worked tirelessly in preparation for this championship and did not disappoint!

Throughout the weekend, Chapellettes and Hi-Steppers competed in two different divisions, Chapellettes in Division 1 and Hi-Steppers in Division 3. On day one, Chapelletes took to the floor with six solos, three duos, an officer routine, and five ensembles. On day two, Chapellettes competed in the Division 1 Jazz, Open, Gameday, and Kick. On day one, the Hi-Steppers competed with five solos, one duo, and two ensembles. On day two, in Division 3, the Hi-Steppers competed in Jazz, Pom, Open, Gameday, and Novelty.

With all the nerves and excitement going into the weekend, the coaches of both incredible teams were asked what their thoughts and feelings were as we headed into the competition. We also asked what their favorite thing about coaching was, as well as what their favorite dance was. This was Mrs. Woodward, the Hi-Stepper coach's response:

“The American All Star Louisiana State Dance & Drill Team Championship is always an exciting time of the year. With over 60 junior high and high school teams attending from all across Louisiana, the weekend will be packed with dance, school spirit, creativity and a whole lot more of dance. Dance is a very subjective sport, so you work very hard to create something that you can only hope the judges will enjoy. It can be very difficult to understand when you put out a near flawless routine on the floor, and the results don't go your way. Sometimes the judges just like what the other teams did more than yours or sometimes the scores are so close that 1st place is anyones for the taking. The Chapelle Hi-Steppers practice long hours after school and during the holidays to prepare for this weekend. Many teams only bring 2-3 team dances to state, while we bring five. We are very lucky to have great choreographers: Shelby Jacob '11, Savannah Swain Raynal '14, Jessica Starring '20, Lexi LeBlanc '21, Shayla Woodward '23 and Karley Voges (sister of Kinyson Voges '19). We had great performances at our first competition of the year, so we are hoping to continue that going into state. I believe our girls are in the right mindset this year for greatness. They want to perform each routine to the best of their abilities, they want the judges to enjoy their routines, and they want to bring home the win for Chapelle. I am a firm believer that if you give your everything on the floor and feel that you did everything you can, the results will come. How they feel when they walk off the floor is more important than the trophy. Coaching any type of sport can be difficult, but also has so many rewards. Each year to see the talent God has given these young ladies shine bright on the gym floor is truly a gift. They love Chapelle, dance and each other, and it definitely shows. I also love seeing my Hi-Stepper alumnae who love to retell a story from when they were on the team, and how each one of them still remember our parade stop routine. I have been truly blessed to have been a part of their time at Chapelle, and to be able to witness their talent. To pick a favorite dance from this year is hard because they are so good. Overall I believe our Open "Black & White Swan" dance is our most creative dance and I look forward to seeing what happens at state and nationals with this routine.”

One of the Chapellette coaches, Mrs. Stephani Kammer-Taylor, was asked the same questions and this was her response:

“Going into state I’m super hopeful for growth. The goal is to place higher than we did last year, and I feel like we are ready to do that. But of course I’m always nervous, but also excited to see if and what we can accomplish in an upward positive direction. My favorite thing about coaching is instilling solid work ethic and a sense of being a good human to your teammates. I think there is more to being on a team than just doing what the team is assembled for, in this case dance. I think it’s about learning how to be a good person and to be a source of support for people that you spend a lot of time with and that you share commonalities with. So teaching girls how to not only be good at their craft, and motivated, and accountable, but also to be good people. My favorite dance is definitely jazz this year. It’s intricate and exciting, and the music is exciting. It’s very technically difficult but the girls are killing it and I think it’s really going to read well when we get to the event.”

Prom Fest Meeting for Volunteers

Calling all chipmunk parents who would like to volunteer at Prom Fest on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Prom Fest is an all-night event for the senior class held on Chapelle's campus after the Senior Prom. It provides a safe and fun environment and is completely free for the girls and their dates. There are lots of games and activities and chances to win great prizes. Although Prom Fest is for the seniors, we invite and need all grade level parents to volunteer to keep this incredible tradition alive.

The FINAL Prom Fest meeting will be held on Monday, January 27th at 6:00pm in the school cafeteria.

To volunteer, there are 3 easy requirements:

1. You must be safe environment trained. (This can be completed online)

2. You must attend at least one Prom Fest meeting.

3. You must purchase a Prom Fest volunteer t-shirt for $15.

Volunteering the night of Prom Fest will satisfy 2 of the 3 school event requirements to be eligible for the ACHS Parent’s Club tuition incentive raffle.

Catholic Schools Week Mass (Donor Mass)

On Tuesday, January 28th at 10:25am Chapelle will celebrate Catholic School Week Mass (Donor Mass).

Please read the following Mass reminders:

All students must wear their formal sweater to Mass. The formal sweater consists of the green v-neck pullover, senior sweater or Ambassador jacket. No other outerwear may be worn at Mass.
Parents cannot drop off your formal sweater to the front office. Please make sure to locate your formal sweater and put it by your school bag Sunday evening.
Students cannot check out during Mass. Please plan accordingly.

2025-26 Registration Packets

Registration packets for the 2025-26 school year will be sent home with the students on Tuesday, January 28th. The registration fee of $700 is due no later than Monday, February 10th. Please check the packet for details.

Class of 2026 Senior Sweaters

The deadline to purchase the Class of 2026 senior sweaters has been extended to Monday, January 27 on the Gulf Bank site. Students that did not attending a fitting last week need to see Mrs. Woodward on Monday. Any student that did not turn in their form should also bring to Mrs. Woodward on Monday.

Winter Weather Apparel in the Bookstore

Stay warm and stylish this winter with these PE joggers available in sizes medium to 2xl, paired perfectly with a crisp white Friday sweatshirt available in sizes medium to 3xl. Embrace the cold weather and fight the chill in comfort and fashion.

Winter Weather Attire at School

No sweatpants are allowed except in PE. Students must remove sweatpants in the morning before getting out of their vehicle.
The approved Archbishop Chapelle High School scarf may be worn in the winter months.
Plain black leggings or tights can be worn (no capris) under the uniform skirt. No cutouts, lace, fringe, designs or any other colors are permitted.
The Chapelle v-neck sweater, senior sweater, Ambassador blazer, uniform fleece, letterman sweaters or letterman jackets are the only acceptable options for outerwear. Any other outerwear must be removed until lunch or the end of the school day.
Archbishop Chapelle letterman jackets, Archbishop Rummel Raider Band or Chapellette letterman jackets can only be worn by active members of the team.
The white Chapelle sweatshirt can only be worn on Friday. Other Chapelle sweatshirts cannot be worn during the school day.
No blankets are allowed on campus at any time.

IMPORTANT: The uniform fleece purchased from the bookstore MUST be monogrammed in white. The monogram can be last name, first and last name, or first initial and last name. Name monogramming on the fleece should be on the student’s right side with the crest on the left. Students have until Monday, December 12 to have their fleece monogrammed.

2025 Future Law Enforcement Youth Academy

FBI New Orleans, The Tulane University Police Department, and the Louisiana Chapter of the FBI National Academy are proud to announce the introduction of the 2025 Future Law Enforcement Youth Academy (FLEYA) to Louisiana. Two of the nation’s most notable and iconic institutions will conduct law enforcement and legal training for selected youth from the State of Louisiana.

The FLEYA training program will be a FREE weeklong overnight camp exposing students (15 to 17 years of age) to federal, state and local law enforcement practices. This joint effort promotes law enforcement career paths by giving the selected youths an inside look at the various practices and techniques as taught by subject matter experts and agency instructors. Tulane’s Uptown campus will serve as the home base for an academic environment with the premier atmosphere to encourage students to pursue higher education and careers in law enforcement.

Students can only be dropped off or picked up in the Veterans horseshoe or the Montana St. horseshoe by the cafeteria.
If you enter at Veterans, you must exit onto Veterans. If you enter on Montana, You must exit onto Montana.
When exiting campus on Montana you MUST turn right. A left turn is not allowed.
Vehicles cannot enter or exit behind the gym during morning or afternoon carpool.
These restrictions are in place for the safety of our chipmunks.

Dr. Sarah Denny Lorio '07

Dr. Sarah Denny Lorio ’07 is a bioethicist with a focus in women’s health and integrated sex education. Sarah offers ethical consults to doctors, nurses, and patients (or their family members) on situations and dilemmas encountered within the medical field. Occasionally, she teaches college students as a university professor or addresses adult women on issues related to women’s health, among many other things. The purpose of her podcast, “What Women Are,” is to educate and to empower women. The podcast will consist of her interviewing women so that they and their stories can bless listeners like they have her. Aside from this endeavor, Sarah’s work will most often focus on the healthy and holistic functioning of a woman’s reproductive system. Listeners can expect resources (articles, books, and courses) that go more into these arenas, whether for the listener or for the listener’s growing children.

Kelsey Doucet Bilich '12

Kelsey Doucet Bilich, a proud member of the Class of 2012, has been making a difference at East Jefferson General Hospital for 5.5 years. She began her journey as a nurse tech while in nursing school and decided to continue her nursing career at East Jefferson after graduation.

Currently, Kelsey works on the Ortho/Neuro Med Surg Unit, where she takes on multiple roles, including charge nurse, floor nurse, and preceptor. She is also an active member of the hospital's SWAT Committee (Skin Wound Assessment Team) and the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON).

Her dedication and excellence have not gone unnoticed. Kelsey was recently recognized as East Jefferson's Team Member of the Month for August and was nominated for both a Daisy Award and the Great 100 Nurses honor.

Kelsey shared, "Chapelle challenged me academically and set a great foundation for working hard towards my studies and goals, taught me the value of teamwork, and helped push me out of my comfort zone, which has helped me in so many ways throughout my nursing career. Being a part of the Chapelle family is truly special and I have formed so many bonds between coworkers, patients, and family members by simply being asked "So where did you go to school?" (IYKYK lol)

Chips Give Thanks!

On November 18th, our chips delivered baskets full of food to those families in need during the holidays. Each homeroom had a list of canned goods and nonperishable foods, such as corn, green beans, and stuffing mix, that each student could sign up to bring. Our students came together to support these families so much and provide them with a great Thanksgiving.

This has allowed students to show their spirit and love to be in the Chipmunk community. With doing this, the Chips got involved and realized how lucky and blessed we are to have what we have. We should never take what God has given us for granted. By stepping out into the community and helping those in need, Chapelle has allowed students to realize how important it is to give back to the community.

Chips Attend Stem Fair

At Chapelle, some students only see science and math as a class, but for other chips, it’s much, much more than that! The STEM club encourages students to make their ideas into realities and can help them to use what they learn in the classroom hands-on in the real world. We got an inside look at how innovative and handy our chips can be!

This year, STEM fair happened on November 15th, in the gym. Mrs. Spamneto, head of the STEM club alongside Mr. Giovingo, had this to say:

“STEM fair is really an amazing way for students to connect, there’s four games to play with your friends to win lunch passes, and it’s only a dollar to get in! Everything from admissions will be given to the STEM library. Robotics will be there with some of their inventions to show off, and the VR goggles will be down there for use.”

Abigail Wyman ‘25 said, “My favorite thing was the Morse code because I translated my name into it and almost cracked the secret message!”

Nora Michelli ‘28 said, “My favorite thing about the STEM fair is getting to use the robots that robotics built. I think it's really cool that students can express their creativity through making robotic creations that get to be used in fun activities!”

Alyssa Foltz ‘29 said, “It was very cool that people came to do all of these activities and have fun!”

During the STEM Fair, students who entered are met with a bundle of challenges. Challenge #1 was the Paper Chain Challenge. In this challenge, people would try to figure out how to make the longest paper chain with just construction paper and scissors. Going on to Challenge #2 is the Marshmallow Tower Challenge. Students try to build a tower with marshmallows and toothpicks while attempting to make it as tall as possible. They also had to use their brains on how to keep the tower structurally stable. Further on is Challenge #3, called the Jar of Pumpkins Challenge. Students try to guess how many pumpkins are in the given jar by only holding it around and observing its interior. After these challenges are completed, students await to win their free lunch passes.

As you can see, STEM fair was an amazing way to connect and hang out with your friends. We send a huge thank you to Mr. Thompson, Mr. Giovingo, Mrs. Spampneto as well as the STEM club, and to all of our chips for coming out! We hope that all of you come out next year to support the STEM library!

Chips Love Asynchronous Learning!!

Every year on the Thursday of Open House, our Chips have an asynchronous learning day. What is asynchronous you might ask? Asynchronous learning days are regular school days but online. Students are not on campus, but rather at home, completing assignments through Google Classroom assigned by their teachers that are due at the end of a regular school day. Our incredible teachers are available via email during asynchronous learning days to answer questions or help any student that may be struggling with their assignment. Many Chips at Chapelle love these asynchronous days and spend the time that they aren’t learning having fun.

These days provide our Chipmunks with the same learning experience that they would receive on a normal school day, but from their beds or couches! Kendall Allen, a student in 10th grade here at Chapelle, had this to say about asynchronous learning: “Asynchronous is a virtual way for me to communicate with my teachers and still be able to learn from home.” These days serve benefits to all members of the Chapelle family including our awesome faculty and staff. One of our teachers in the English Department, Jaclyn Casanova, said this about asynchronous learning days: "I enjoy asynchronous learning because it allows the teachers to get set up for Open House in a timely manner and be fully prepped and prepared for the big day."

Overall, asynchronous learning days give the whole Chapelle family a relaxing way to learn and complete lessons at home and at their own pace. It is a useful substitute for days that students are not able to be on campus, but still need to stay on track for their class curriculums. It gives students and teachers time to prepare for the big events that will usually take place after an asynchronous day without the concern of missing a day of school.

�� Big news from our talented Choir Chips! ��

This month, several of our talented singers auditioned for the LMEA All-State Honor Choirs. Auditions were rigorous—with two challenging rounds: first competing against students in the district, and then going head-to-head with top singers from across the entire state.

The students who made it will spend a few unforgettable days in January rehearsing, learning, and performing in New Orleans under the direction of world-renowned conductors. And guess what? Eight of our Choir Chips auditioned, and six were selected for this incredible honor!

Huge congratulations to:

HEAD OF SCHOOL

Hello parents! As we are coming to the end of the first quarter of school, I wanted to share with you the importance of your daughter being in school every day. I encourage you to review the handbook for important details of our absentee policy.

Attending school every day in high school is essential for several reasons:

1. Academic Success

Consistent Learning: Daily attendance ensures that students don't miss important lessons, assignments, and exams. Missing even a few days can result in gaps in understanding, making it harder to catch up later.
Better Grades: Research consistently shows that students with higher attendance perform better academically. Regular attendance is linked to improved test scores, project completion, and overall academic performance.
Participation: Many activities, such as group projects or class discussions, require consistent presence to fully engage and learn effectively.

2. Building Strong Habits

Discipline and Responsibility: Attending school every day fosters a sense of responsibility and discipline. These habits carry over into college or the workforce, where regular attendance and punctuality are critical.
Time Management: Consistently attending school encourages students to develop time management skills, balancing classes, homework, extracurricular activities, and personal time.

3. Social Development

STUDENT LIFE

Legacy Mass

On Thursday, October 17th at 10:25am Chapelle will celebrate Legacy Mass.

Please read the following Mass reminders:

All students must wear their formal sweater to Mass. The formal sweater consists of the green v-neck pullover, senior sweater or Ambassador jacket. No other outerwear may be worn at Mass.
Parents cannot drop off your formal sweater to the front office. Please make sure to locate your formal sweater and put it by your school bag Monday evening.
Students cannot check out during Mass. Please plan accordingly.
No parking in the gym or Fine Arts lot. Seniors must park in the front of school.

Make a Difference Day - October 15

MANDATORY DAY OF SCHOOL

Parents will receive permission slips for this event. Please be prompt in completing this.

Attendance (MANDATORY): If a student is absent, they will be required to complete their 5 hours of community service on their own. Attendance is mandatory and students may have make up school hours on a Saturday.

Attire: Make a Difference Day t-shirts will be provided to be distributed on Monday, October 14. School

Skirt, Tennis Shoes are required.

Transportation: School Bus to Service Location and back to school.

Lunch: The cafeteria will be serving our regular lunch. Students are allowed to bring their lunch.

Following lunch, students will spend time completing a reflection sheet and discussion. The day will end with a school wide gathering and opportunity to share experiences.

All students will receive five (5) community service hours for this day. This will be entered on their Mobileserve account.

NOTE: EIGHTH GRADE

Parents will receive an additional permission slip for participation in this Oyster Shell Recycling Program

Students will be informed of the logistics and safety of this event.

Students will be provided snacks, lunch, water, sports drinks and equipment (work gloves, sunscreen,

bug spray).

STUDENTS ARE TO BRING A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE to cut down on plastic waste.

Because they are traveling to Violet, Louisiana and their service will involve recycling Oyster shells, they are to wear JEANS.

PSAT/ACT Testing

All students will be testing on October 16th. Testing is mandatory.

You will be able to dress down on Test Day. Students are allowed to wear:

jeans, sweatpants or leggings with no rips, tears or frays
if you wear leggings your bottom must be covered
shorts must be finger tipped length
shirts must have a sleeve, cover your midriff and have an appropriate logo or verbiage
tennis shoes

Please see below for the testing release times, this is a range of times that students may be dismissed, times are approximate and may vary. There will be no aftercare and no lunch, students should bring a snack during their break time. They will not be able to access their bags or take their bags with them during break so the snack should be placed under their desk area.

Lakeside Shopping Center

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

The Archbishop Chapelle National Art Honor Society has created another series of pumpkins for the Lakeside Shopping Center pumpkin decorating contest. The theme selected this year honors the Halloween movie master himself, Tim Burton! Our title pumpkin features Tim Burton selling tickets at a movie theater adorned with hand-painted posters from Sleepy Hollow, Batman Returns, the Wednesday Adams show, The Nightmare before Christmas, Frankenweenie and Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We then paid tribute to the latest Beetlejuice movie with a journey back to the graveyard scene, complete with animated sign and watched over by the sandworm of Saturn. Our next pumpkin depicts the Mad Hatter from his adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. We then have a dual sided pumpkin showing two scenes from the Corpse Bride featuring hand sewn wedding gown and hand stitched hair. Our final pumpkin is another collaboration with the Chapelle robotics team and created in our new STEM lab on our Glowforge which depicts Edward Scissorhands sculpting beautiful hedges with moving animatronic hands.

Voting for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place this year will be conducted by a panel of judges. Voting for the People Choice Award is NOT online this year but only in person at the Lakeside shopping center on 10/13 and 10/19 at center court. Come out and help us win this competition!

VOOBOO Lunch Order

On VOOBOO you can wear the 2024 STUCO shirt or a Chapelle shirt with shorts, athletic skirts, leggings or jeans and tennis shoes. Shorts and athletic skirts must be finger tip in length. This will be checked. If leggings are worn, your shirt must cover your backside or wear something around your waste. Jeans or jean shorts may not have any rips, holes or tears. Students eat out in the field in picnic style, so be sure to bring blankets. Many groups will bring food to share with each other. Dip and Dots will also be on campus that day. Cash only $5-$12.

On VOOBOO the cafeteria will be serving hamburgers and french fries. If you plan to eat school lunch, please let Ms. Smith know by Friday, October 18. We also offer Chick-Fil-A boxes and pizza. Chick-Fil-A includes 8-nuggets with waffle chips and a cookie OR chicken sandwich with waffle fries and a cookie. Pizza choices are 8-slice pepperoni or 8-slice cheese. You must pre-purchase these items and we do not order extra. If you would like to purchase one of these options, please log into the Gulf Bank site. The cost of each item is $10.00. The deadline to purchase one of these items is October 15.

Tickets for Rummel Football Games

Tickets for all Rummel Football games (home and away games) will be sold at Chapelle during lunch on Tuesday in the Perdomo Conference Room. Ticket price is $10 at school and $15 at the gate. Payment at Chapelle can be cash or check made out to Rummel. Save money and purchase your ticket at school. This also lets you by pass the long lines ticket booth.

FOR LEGACY FAMILIES

Our Annual Legacy Mass will be held on Thursday, October 17 at 10:15AM and we would like to invite all alumnae mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunts of current students to attend. This year we will have Mass and also a lunch following. Doors open at 9:50am but please arrive by 10:10am as Mass starts promptly at 10:15AM. Parking will be available behind the gym. Following Mass there will be a boxed lunch, a group legacy picture and Barberito Photography will also be present for additional pictures for purchase. If possible, please wear your senior sweater to mass, and your daughter (or legacy) will have the privilege of wearing it for the rest of the day. We are looking forward to celebrating with you!

Important Carpool Information

Students can only be dropped off or picked up in the Veterans horseshoe or the Montana St. horseshoe by the cafeteria.
If you enter at Veterans, you must exit onto Veterans. If you enter on Montana, You must exit onto Montana.
When exiting campus on Montana you MUST turn right. A left turn is not allowed.
Vehicles cannot enter or exit behind the gym during morning or afternoon carpool.
These restrictions are in place for the safety of our chipmunks.

As our students begin a new school year, I pray that you will keep them in your care. Send your Spirit to open their minds to all that is true and beautiful and good. Help them to see the gifts and talents you have given them and to use them well. Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom. Help them to be kind to others and lead others to be kind to them.
Open their young hearts to your presence and enfold them in your peace and protection.
