BELIZE MISSION PARTNER
For the first time in our school history, we are launching an international mission trip in collaboration with Archbishop Rummel High School. We invite you to become a Belize Mission Partner through your prayerful and financial support. You will provide the opportunity for the Rummel and Chapelle communities to make a direct and lasting impact on the people we will serve in Punta Gorda, Belize. We will keep you updated with our progress, prayer intentions, and the success of our mission. Here is some of the work you can support on this mission:
Our first project will be continuing the construction of a school kitchen for the San Marcos Elementary School. The students either need to bring their own lunches, travel home during the school day, or forgo eating until after school. The school has also been monitored for cases of malnutrition and stunt children by the Ministry of Education. This kitchen will provide the opportunity to give one good meal everyday to each of the 200 children. We expect our cost for this physical project to be between $3,500-4,500. Many of the schools offer education to the poorest communities in Punta Gorda. The Belizean government supports the schools financially with teacher salaries. However, ongoing maintenance and improvements that allow for a proper setting for education relies on outside funds.
Our second project will consist of painting the San Antonio Church building of one of their larger villages. This project will cost around $1,000.
We will also be facilitating a youth retreat for surrounding mission churches near San Marcos and San Antonio. When we met with the Pastor of St. Peter Claver Parish, he emphasized the need to help the Belize youth fall in love with our Catholic faith. We believe our faculty as well as our students can help provide a life changing encounter with our Lord and the sacraments needed to deepen the faith in these communities. We need financial support to provide supplies necessary to facilitate the retreat, food for all of the local kids attending the retreat, and transportation costs to bring the kids to the retreat site. We expect to have approximately 30-50 kids attend this retreat.
Most importantly, we need your prayers. We believe the Holy Spirit is the true director of this mission. As Jesus Christ says in John 15:8, “apart from me you can do nothing.” We trust in the providence of God that He will make this mission successful according to His plan. In all we do, we lay it before Him for His glory!
