Students March for Life

Twenty-two students represented Archbishop Chapelle High School on the annual CYO-sponsored March for Life trip to Washington, D.C.  They joined forces with hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens giving a voice to the un-born in protest of the Roe v Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States.

In addition to the March, the girls visited the mother house of the Nashville Dominican Sisters, prayed in front of one of the largest abortion clinics in the U.S. operated by Planned Parenthood, attended the "Geaux Forth" Louisiana Right to Life Youth Rally, and attended the Arlington Diocese pro-life rally with 5,000 students from across the country.  They visited the Holocaust Museum, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and various Washington monuments including spending a few hours at the Smithsonian.

The visit to Washington was capped off with a meeting with the Louisiana Congressional Delegation that included a question and answer session with some of our Congressmen.  From our area, Senator Vitter and Congressman Scalise were present to support the pro-life voice, as well as congressmen from other parts of Louisiana.

The long bus ride, fully scheduled days, and inclement weather took on an atmosphere of a meaningful pilgrimage, not just a tourist trip, yet the students fully embraced the message and had great fun doing so!  Nancy Larousse and Megan Boudreau Caire ’03 accompanied the students on the trip.  more pictures
