Congratulations Cheerleaders

On Sunday, January 7, the ACHS Cheerleaders
competed in the National Cheerleading Competition Mardi Gras Spirit Event and received First Place in the Large Varsity Level 3 Division and High Point Winner in the High School Overall Division.

Chapelle School Bus

Chapelle received a refurbished school bus donated by Mr. John Corr and the Trans Group LLC in New York City, through the intercession of The Josephine Foundation.  Mr. Corr wanted to make a difference to the Catholic schools in New Orleans and has to date donated 25 buses to the area.  We are very fortunate to have been chosen to receive one. Chapelle is truly blessed. This was a very generous donation from a man who cares about this city.  Please keep him in your prayers.

AP Scholar Awards

Six students at Archbishop Chapelle High School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on student performance.

Shelley Schexnayder qualified for the  AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of  3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Five students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams, with grades of 3 or higher.  The AP Scholars are Kristen Craig, Shivani Jain, Danielle Keller, Meredith Poynot, and Julie Radcliffe.

The College Board's Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.  About 18 percent of the more than 1.3 million high school students in 16,000 secondary schools worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to merit the recognition of AP Scholar.

Cox Communications, Cox Media, Cadillac and the New Orleans Museum of Art announced 20 finalists in the Our History Art Contest. On December 19, judges representing various art organizations, universities, as well as sponsors judged the art entries from area public, private and parochial schools representing Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard and St. Charles parishes in the Annual Cox Our History Art Contest. Judging was based on quality of line/application, completeness of composition, expression of art, and originality/creativity of the artwork. After painstaking analysis and review, the judges selected 20 finalists who will share in $4,000 for this year’s contest.
