On Tuesday, September 22, New Orleans Saints football players Leigh Torrence and Lynell Hamilton spoke to the student body about the importance of maintaining a good character, focusing in school and being goal-oriented. “As you become young women, you must realize that the decisions you make now will affect your future,” said Torrence.

Students enjoyed hearing high school experiences from both players.  “It was really cool to hear personal stories from the players. It’s nice to think that professional athletes were in the same position I’m in. It gives me the determination to set goals very high so that one day I can be as successful as they are with my own dreams,” said senior Katie Canizaro.

After both players spoke about their personal experiences, they allowed the students and faculty members to ask questions. These questions varied from practice schedules to the feeling of walking onto the NFL football field for the first time in their careers. At the end of the assembly, three lucky Chipmunks walked away with Saints goodies courtesy of First Bank and Trust and the New Orleans Saints.
