50th Anniversary Celebration Begins

A yearlong celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Archbishop Chapelle High School began with the Deus Providebit Liturgy.  Msgr. Bob Massett celebrated the mass and Deacon Drea Capaci assisted.  Honored guests included alumnae, former faculty and administration, parents, and friends of Chapelle.

In the opening procession, members of the administrative team carried banners commemorating the 50th anniversary, our motto, and the three components of our mission statement.  Students carried votive candles representing each graduating class to place on the unity candle.   During the Eucharistic celebration Father Bob blessed the 50th anniversary pins that were distributed to the students, faculty and guests.

The Outstanding Catholic Student Awards for the 2010-2011 school year were presented to Amanda Seoane, Marissa Ramsey, Elizabeth Beauchamp, and Mary Dufresne. This award is presented annually to a student from each class level who exemplifies her faith and gives witness to her Catholicity on the campus of Archbishop Chapelle High School and in the community.

The National Merit Semifinalists, Madeline Janney and Heather Butler, and the Commended Student, Catherine Owers were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.

Mari Merida Vigueira ’78, along with her band, shared their exceptional musical talents.  The morning concluded with Mari leading the students and faculty in the traditional chipmunk version of “We are Family.”

When they returned to their classes, the students and faculty were surprised to find 50th anniversary T-shirts for everyone.
